- Wedding: October 2012
I’ve been reading and following the China dress experiences of fellow Bees and thought I should post something about my own… thus far.
I have 5 bridesmaids, one of which will be 6 months pregnant at the wedding. We are trying to stay around $100 per dress.
We went to a local shop to try on dresses, and I was surprised when they told me all their dress come from China! They place orders weekly from a company based there. We wanted chiffon dresses and they only had about 12 color choices – none of which would work with my color scheme. Most dresses in the shop were $160-$180. Out of our budget & without the right colors, I began to explore ordering directly from China.
There seem to be more reviews on Dressilyme.com than any other site/company, so I ordered swatches from Dressilyme.com. It seemed like a good starting point.
The next day, I decided I wanted to change my colors slightly and add in some pink swatches. I didn’t want to pay the $23 DHL shipping fee again, so I emailed them & asked if I could add some swatches. They had not shipped my order yet, so they put it on hold, added the extra swatches, waited until I paid for the changes through Paypal and then shipped it. According to their email, it was shipped on 7/5. I received it on 7/10. It took less than a week to arrive. DHL has a great tracking feature which allowed me to sign up for emails so I could keep up with the package.
Here are pictures of the swatches with my colors. I found the colors to be pretty true how they appear on my computer screen, although the yellow swatches had a lot more yellow in them than what I could see on the computer screen. However, my Mom said she could tell the swatches that were too yellow, looked too yellow on the computer screen, so maybe having another set of eyes is a good idea. I also found that looking on different comptuer screens showed the colors slightly differently.
We are thinking of placing an order for all the girls dresses next week, as long as I still feel confident about giving it a try. We will probably do a custom order size for the prego bridesmaid. I will be on pins & needles until the dresses come.

The only confusing thing occurs when you take out multiple swatches & put them back in the wrong packages. It was easy with mine because some swatches are very similar. It makes you wonder if the person putting the swatches in the packages pays attention to detail. Because if these are mixed up at all, I could end up ordering the wrong color & be very dissapointed.
I re-labeled each package immediately, as the writing on the label isn’t very clear & very scribbled. I used my order sheet to determined which numbers were which.
