- Wedding: Disneyland - January 2016
I really need to get wedding planning off my mind, it’s starting to make me a little loopy. We’ve been working a lot on our centerpieces lately, namely the floral part. Flowers aren’t a HUGE part of our decor, but we did want some, and since we’re having a semi-destination wedding I really wanted fake flowers so we can assemble them ourselves before the wedding and not have to worry about it once we’re there. For my bouquet and for the bridal party I wanted to use ribbon roses, and then for the rest of the decor (namely the centerpieces), that’s when we were going to go with silk. Here’s an examples of what we’ve made so far (I have I think four so far and they took a stupid amount of time to do since I had no idea what I was doing so I’m a little attached to them):
It became pretty clear that we’re going to need a LOT more flowers than I thought though. Still, no biggie, the weddings 6 months away and we have time to gather more. However, tonight I had a bit of an idea. My Fiance has given me roses since we started dating for various reasons, and because I’m a dork I like to try to save at least one or two of the nicer roses and dry them. I’m starting to have too many of them, but I didn’t want to throw them away. I was looking at one bouqet he gave me a couple weeks ago and thinking how pretty they still are and thinking how nice they would look as a centerpiece themselves. That’s when I started to wonder…well, COULD they be a part of my centerpieces?? I snipped off a few of them and quickly arranged them, just to get an idea:
Personally I still think it’s really pretty! And it actually fits our theme really well since we’re going for a sort of vintage/antique fairytale vibe. But I worry, would they all get destroyed in the six hour drive to our location and then all the hustle and bustle to get them set up? (I don’t mind if they’re thrown out after, but I DO want them to last through the reception) For some of our centerpieces that are a little bigger I don’t think the dried flowers would work so the silk flowers make more sense, but is that going to look totally stupid having both dried real flowers, silk flowers, AND the ribbon roses (from my bouquet that clearly matches nothing)? Is this just not even pretty at all and I’m just going nuts???
