My FH and I were thinking about having our wedding at a Drive-in theatre owned by his uncle. Has anyone had any eperience with this? If you have, do you have any tips or ideas or comments about our idea?
Thanks in advance!!

That’s a pretty awesome idea!!
Would people sit in their cars, while you got married on a stage and it was broadcast onto the big screen? And they could get food service in their cars?
Cuz that would be awesome…

You should have a slideshow played on the screen! Ugh, this is the cutest thing ever!

That is cool & its definitely memorable! I’ll second the slideshow of pics & videos of the 2 of you on the big screen… yay! How unique.
You could really run with this theme… your invites could be admission tickets, candy & popcorn favors. Eeek the possibilities are endless! I hope you do this & post tons of photos!

I would soooo love to go to that wedding. It’s basically a blank canvas and you could do really cool lighting on the dance floor and have an old black and white movie going on in the background. Or clips of your favorite movies interspersed with you and your Fiance and your family and friends.
What a great night!!!

I’m really not sure what to do with it yet. I’ve only been there once and there really isn’t a ‘stage’ area, just a big screen and obviously a concession stand. But we were thinking about having our wedding be broadcasted so people could sit in there cars and listen to it that way. There are so many details to work out!
The only problem I foresee is that there really isn’t any sort of shelter or cover in case the weather gets bad (it would be in WI afterall and the weather is completely unpredictable). Also, the theatre is really in the middle of No-wheres-ville. The closest lodging is only about 3 miles away, but it also only boasts 12 rooms! My entire family wouldn’t even fit in there. Another one near by only has 20 rooms. The Hotels are beautiful just small. Even if we have a day wedding, most of the people will be driving close to 4 hours one way just to get there.

You can always cover the reception area with a tent, so don’t let the lack of shelter stop you! Aside from the two very close lodging places is there somewhere nearby with a slightly bigger hotel? We’re getting married in the middle of nowhere and have limited housing on site, but we also have hotels about 12 miles away. We figured that was close enough!

Hmm, the lodging issue makes it kind of difficult, that’s a lot of driving for one day. It’s such a fun and CUTE idea though. You could do everything movie themed or hollywood themed.

There was a great wedding featured in the Baltimore Style Magazine a year or two ago about a couple who did their wedding at Bengies which is a drive inn theatre. I am having my E-pictures taken at a vintage 50’s style theatre.
But here is the link to their wedding if helpful:

I’ve been thinking about 40s glam for the wedding. I think it’d be absolutly beautiful!
That website was also amazing!
Seriously tho, Casablanca! What could be more romantic than that!
Anyway, so what great ideas! The drive-in is also kid-friendly, which we need because both myself and the FH have lots of kids in our families!
Just thought I’d share the website of the place!

The page is definitely corny, but I thought it’d be awesome!

I really hope that we can do this. I’ve been looking at other sites in WI for our wedding but it just doesn’t seem the same. Plus, we’re basically going to be paying for the entire wedding ourselves because neither of our families can afford to give much. The other venues I’ve looked at are all gorgeous and perfect if our budget wasn’t close to $4000 max! It’s going to be a very DIY wedding. I have so many inspirations that I’m really looking forward to accomplishing! 😀

WOW, what an amazing idea! I would LOVE to go to a wedding like that! Definitely try to have people sit in their cars — what fun. I also really love your 40’s glam theme. Okay, I’m getting a little jealous… 😉
