Soooo….am I the only crazy ring-obsessed one here? I know I just got engaged but here are my embarassing engagement ring secrets. Whenever I’m driving down the road I find myself staring at the sparkly rainbows that my ring makes, I actually bumped a Metro bus with my car yesterday while doing this! When I irritate my FI I force him to stare into the ring so that he can “forget” whatever just happened, I find myself doing the same. The saddest thing is that I dedicated the Beyonce song “Halo” to my ring because of it’s beautiful halo. I can’t tell this to any of my friends because they might pose an intervention. Please tell me that I’m not the only bee with issues!

I do it too! :-S
Although I have never “bumped” anything while starring at my ring – I still do it!!!! And I have been engaged for 8 months and I still do it 😀

Haha! I remember feeling like that when I first got engaged. It still sometimes catched my eye but I think I’m used to wearing it now so I don’t find it so distracting. Maybe you should flip the diamond under while you are driving for safet reasons 😉

I definately did that for a while too! But I just ran off the road a tad…no bumping of cars are buses! But it def is distracting at first! I got used to the rainbows 😉

I think I am finally used to this, but yep at first I would always notice my ring catching the light just right! I think I still play with it at red lights, making rainbows and “disco lights” in my car. 🙂

Awww…to be newly engaged. I remember the giddy feeling.
I am still excited to be engaged of course but the newness has worn off. Now, I am getting giddy about being married.
P.S. I love wiggling my fingers to see my ring sparkle.

I love looking at my ring still! And I really like the light that it reflects onto the car wall/roof when it’s sunny out. I have to remind myself not to look!

i’ve had mine two months and i still do that constantly. thank god my drive to work just involves going down one side street with very few cars or i’m fairly certain i would have bumped something by now =p

1. I totally check mine out in the sun, but I try to limit it to stop lights, no bumping into anything!
2. You are getting married the day after me, in the same city 🙂 Well same Metro.

yup, i did that plus for a few weeks my ring was too big so it kept spinning and seeing it while I was driving, just made me want to fix it.

I literally just lol’d! I think that’s normal. I was like that at first too, sadly I’ve grown so used to it that I tend to not give it much attention. I’m getting it cleaned and re-dipped soon so I bet once its back to looking brand new I will be back to staring. Oh, wait til you get your band. I had to leave it at my Mother’s house because I kept ‘trying it on’ and looking in the mirror.

I totally do this too. I haven’t hit anything yet though thankfully! I also notice the days that it’s UBER sparkly and try to take mental note of where I’ve been and what I’ve done (ie what soap was that in the restaurant bathroom?!). Sigh.
Ultimate confession, I was at a funeral (family member of a former coworker) and I kept noticing how sparkly my ring looked in the light at the chapel. How awful is that?! I told a friend later and she confessed to scoping out shoes so I guess we’re equally terrible people. So embarassing to admit!

I am guilty! Sometimes when I’m talking I catch a glimpse of my ring and loose my train of thought. However, my newest obsession is looking at my ring projected from an overhead projector. I am a teacher and I have a document camera in my classroom. When I am using this camera it can project my ring onto a 5 foot by 7 foot screen. It looks AMAZING under the camera light!
I have been engaged a year already and I am just as bad now as I was when my ring was new!

HAHAHA so funny! Although I haven’t bumped anyone or driven off the road, I did have some guy catch me totally staring at my ring! I am pretty sure he proceeded to laugh at me:)
Love this post! We are all a bunch of crazies driving around staring at our rocks!

lol, great story! My ring always looks its best when holding the steering wheel!
