Im trying to accesorize my dress, its a huge tulle ballgown, I wanted to wear it with a cathedral drop veil but Im afraid that it may look like too much lol (I also want to wear my hair down). What are your thoughts on drop veil w/ princess gowns? I typically see them with sheath/fitted dresses. Also, do drop veils touch your face frequently? Im woried about makeup transfer.

I am wearing a ballgown, have a drop veil and plan to wear my hair down. I haven’t seen it but I think it will work, wear what you want and what makes you happy.

I wore a cathedral drop veil, a ballgown, and my hair down. 🙂 I don’t remember it touching my face at all.

Ballgown and a waist drop veil works beautifully. My previous dress (it turned out unsuitable and I sold it) was a huge ballgown, and I was going to wear a waist-length / elbow length drop veil , raw edge, to go with it. 🙂
I briefly considered a cathedral drop veil, but it feels a little over the top. If your venue is super grand though why not 🙂

I wore a cathedral drop veil with my ballgown and it worked out perfectly. The only thing you need to worry about is whether the design competes with your gown or not.
Here’s a few pics with me and mine:
You could see that I had a smidge of make-up transfer on the veil but the reason for that was the day was particularly breezy and my veil was dancing between us the entire time (pro tip: if you’re getting married at a high point near the sea/harbour, you might want to invest in veil weights). Originally I thought my veil was going to be heavy enough to not waft around us like that but mother nature had other ideas, lol. HTHs

I love it! Yes, Id get a raw edge chapel or cathedral so it doesnt compete w/ the dress. Ive never heard of veil weights, gosh theyve really thought of eveything lol
