Most mermaid gowns are very difficult to move around in…especially when it comes to dancing. This is why I would never even consider buying one.

Your dress is gorgeous! Wear it and enjoy it!

@misslineman:  OMG I feel exactly the same! I know people won’t care and will forget what dress I even wore, but I feel a little ashamed and perhaps cheesy that I’m a ballgown bride.. I blame weddingbee!

I’ve known since I was a little girl that I would wear a tulle ballgown, so I can’t let little me down!

Actually I can be a little shy and feel mermaids show too much of one’s body’s curves, so ballgowns are for me. Plus they’re the classic, princess dress 🙂

Go with your gut! Don’t worry about being in or out of style, go with what you like. Most wedding gowns become ‘out of style’ at some point! All that matters is that you feel lovely in it.

@misslineman:  OMG keep it please! It’s breathtaking! And if you decide you don’t like it anymore, can I have it? Sealed

There is only once in a gal’s life she can get away with wearing a dress like that…if you aren’t going to wear one on your wedding day then when will you? Def keep it! This is mine…I don’t have pics of me in it but this is a model shot. Dropped waist but still a ball gown:-)

I want to try on a mermaids for an ego boost (so sexy!), but I know I will be getting an A-line or ballgown. I want to look classic, and following trends has never served me well anyway. I know I’d look back at pictures of me in a mermaid and cringe in 10 years.

I think ball gowns are pretty classic and even if they are “out of style” who cares! if you like it, it doesn’t matter if it’s in style. FWIW I had a ball gown! I always pictured myself in a slim lace dress and just fell in love with my ball gown.

Ball gowns will NEVER go out of style. They are very timeless and classic. Yours is definitely not an exception! It looks gorgeous and is very flattering on you!

    Here’s my ball gown beauty:

I feel the same way. I tried on a lot of mermaids, which I loved – I have a very classic hourglass figure, so my body looked bangin’ (if I do say so myself). BUT I just never felt comfortable and “like me” in mermaids, so I ended up with a ballgown. Sometimes I have a tinge of regret – I feel like my body is good enough I should show it up! But then I remember how great it is that I can move my legs freely. Also, I don’t know about you, but I LOVE pictures of brides in ballgowns going up and down the stairs, or sitting on the ground surrounded by their poofy dress, and even just simple portraits – it just looks so…bridal!

Anyway, here’s a picture of me in my sample

@mandyhartwell:  Your dress is what made me decide I wanted a ballgown! I had only tried on mermaids and simple, narrow A-lines, and my friend pulled that dress off the sale rack and a salon and I LOVED it! It was super early in my dress shopping, so I didn’t want to commit (it was a sample only), but I really liked it a lot!

I love ballgows – just not on me.  They’re not my style, I always knew I’d never wear a ballgown.  My prom dress was a small a-line when most of my friends were in a sea of VERY vibrant tulle.  Yours is stunning.
