What drug shortage?  I haven’t heard anything about this.  What aren’t you able to get?

I work in as a pharmacy tech in Newfoundland (and before that in Ontario) and it is crazy the amount of problems that have been happening over this past 2 or 3 years with shortages. Things like trimethoprim (antibiotics) suspension for babies with kidney problems have not been available here for 8 months or more! And there is no indication that it will be coming any time soon.

And now this news about the Sandoz plant… it is scary. Doctors are already being forced to choose 2nd or 3rd choice treatments because of drug availability. Hospitals here can’t get alot of chemo meds right now (and those are the huge profit meds for most companies!)

I’m not affected by it personally but I work at an oncology office and we are having an extremely hard time getting a lot of the chemo drugs we need. It’s scary because if patients are able to receive their drugs on schedule it can really affect their care.

I’m not directly affected, and I don’t think this specific plant is the reason, but Fiance has had a really hard time getting his Adderall prescription filled in the last year or so.  Luckily, he only takes it once every couple weeks when he decides to and doesn’t need to take it every day, but when he wants to get an Rx filled, all the pharmacy’s in the area are out of the 20mg pills.  It’s really weird: when i was in HS around 2003-2004, all of my friends were doing the trendy thing of going to a Dr, acting distracted, and getting perscribed to Adderall.  In recent years, I’ve heard it’s been a lot harder to get that perscription and a lot harder to get Adderall in general, but suddenly, there are so many people filling their Rx’s that there is a constant shortage?  It doesn’t make sense to me.  Like I said, he does need to take it every day so it’s usually not an issue, just irritating having to call and then drive to different pharamcies to get it filled.

I work in pediatric home care and every child is on prilosec and lots have epinephrine prescribed. It’s been tricky for them, especially because lots of the kids need their meds approved by government healthcare which can hold the process up even more…

Just before I found out about this plant closure I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription and my Depo was no longer available in generic brand and no clue if or when it will be back on the market. Now Im not sure if this is due to the closure or not. My aunt passed last year from cancer and I couldnt imagine what everyone is going through right now with the loss of injectable morphine. could you imagine if people starting using medicinal marijuana more since they cant get typical prescriptions.
