I hear that olive oil is good for the hair. I am going to try it this weekend.

@young.bride:  I have dry hair too and I only wash mine 2x a week.  When I do wash it, I use a moisturizing shampoo and a deep conditioning treatment.

I used to wash my hair every other day and blowdry and flat iron it every time.  Then I dyed it and it got so damaged it felt like straw.  I try not to heat style it now unless I absolutely have to… I do stuff like I’ll wash it at night and then put it in a giant bun while I sleep so I get volume and waves the next day.  If it ever starts looking oily around the roots between shampoos, I use some dry shampoo like Oscar Blandi.  I also use Argan (Moroccan) oil on the ends almost daily.

Seriously though, not washing as much is the single best thing you can do.  It lets your hair’s natural oils do their thing!

I have only used horse shampoo on my hair for years.  I am almost 50 and my hair is very soft and VERY shiny.  As you get older your hair tends to become more wirey(becasue of the grey). Plus I color it every 6 weeks and still it is in great shape.  Good luck!

I’ve never tried this but I know someone who swears by doing a mayonaisse mask on her hair 1x week. She said it really locks in the shine until the next treatment. Sounds messy!

I have long thick hair and its DRY as the Sahara Desert with all my compulsive bleaching/dying!

Loving the suggestions on here! Thanks ladies!

Anyone have a favorite Shampoo/Conditioner to use on a regular basis; and with that I mean I only wash my hair every 3 days. (Its a lot of work, lol)

@katiebee3: I do a mayo and egg treatment once every month. It is great! Just DO NOT RINSE YOUR HAIR IN HOT WATER!!! I hate to scream, but the water will cook the egg and you will have scrambled eggs in your hair lol. Rinse it in cold water. It makes my hair stronger and shiny. And it’s actually not that messy.

OK I moved to the desert and my baby fine hair did not react well.  Then I had a stylist leave on highlights too long and fried it.

The only thing I liked about my hair was that it was soft and shiny and now that was gone.

So I tried tons of stuff but a couple of months ago I started using this stuff and while it is expensive it is AMAZING!!!

If you do not mind blowing the money it is so worth it!

And my hair:  I’m standing btween the two men.
