Oh my goodness my scalp has been itching like CRAZY lately! Sometimes I’ll wake myself up in my sleep from scratching like a dog. I have problems with naturally dry skin, and this weather isn’t helping anything either. Also, I’ve been dying my hair at home, which I’m sure isn’t helping. I’ve been avoiding washing my hair every day so that it helps a little but it’s really done nothing. I’m worried using a dry scalp shampoo will make my dye fade faster. Suggestions? Does scalpacin help at all? (saw commercials for it the other day)

I dye my hair and during the winter months my scalp essentially falls off. Head and Shoulders makes a safe for dyed hair shampoo that I use.

fructis makes a dandruff dryscalp shampoo with scrubing beads. I LOVE IT! my itchy scalp is finally gone. I also have really dry skin and dye my hair. Hair color hasn’t faded from it. i highly recomend and its cheap!

I struggle with psoriasis, and have a few spots on my scalp. I use Neutrogena T-gel a few times a week. My colorist says it’s safe on colored hair, and it keeps the itching to a minimum for me.

I was going to say scalpacin since a commercial for it was just on! They do have color safe dry scalp shampoos though.

I was going to suggest T-Gel also. IT SMELLS HORRIBLE!!! I will warn you of that! But it works instantly.

Nizoral used to be perscription only, it is avaiable on the self now. I highly recommend.

I get dry scalp in the winter months sometimes. I usually use head and shoulders for dry scalp, it works wonders.
Also, don’t go to bed or lay down with a wet head, the moisture from out hair pressing on your head for that long can acutally irritate your scalp. Don’t pull your hair on the top of your head while it is wet, it will irritate your scalp. If you are out in public and your scalp is itching like crazy apply some baby powder, but make sure you get rid of all of the white powder.
