I’ve tried lots of balms for dry lips and nothing works as well as Carmex original

I like plain, old Vaseline. Definitely be aware of certain brands. Carmex feels great at first, but it actually dries out your lips in the long run, so it makes you reapply, reapply, reapply. It really does more harm than good.

@amanda06:  second this – I have super sensitive skin and lips that dry out pretty quick. Occasionally I’ll use other products but I ALWAYS have little Vaseline tubs with me for my lips. I put a dab on OVER lip colour and that works well, and there is a rose tinted vaseline now that gives a little bit of colour. I swear by it – have used other products mentioned but plain old Vaseline brand Vaseline has been tops for me!

Aquaphor every night as preventative.  If I DO get chapped lips (long run outside, etc) I use straight up olive oil, or coconut oil.  It seems the only thing to heal them quickest.  Sort of gross but it works!

I am going with Aquaphor as well. I use it for everything! When I gave chemo we actually gave out samples and highly recommendit for our patients that got rashes and had problems related to radiation.

Aquaphor every night before bed will do it.

Aquaphor is essentially the same thing as vaseline… save some $$ and just get that instead!

I second a prior poster’s recommendation of Burt’s Bees! My lips were ALWAYS dry and becoming chapped in winter until I started using this. I love it! As for a primer, I use MAC concealer on my lips prior to applying lip liner and lip color.

having chapped lips is most likely an indicator that you are dehydrated. I would increase your water intake and you will probably see a difference. 🙂

@limeice24:  Aquaphor is not the same thing as vaseline. It has lanolin in it, which helps heal. Vaseline is 100% petroleum which does not promote healing. Go for the aquaphor. A little Chapstick sized tube lasts me months & months.

I use Aquaphor AND Jack Black lip balm. I buy mine at Sephora and love the stuff.
