What’s your best remedy for dry skin this time of the year?
What’s your best remedy for dry skin this time of the year?
My hands crack and bleed when it gets cold and dry (also when I do too many dishes..) and I swear by both Trader Joe’s Moisturizing Cream Extra Dry Formula (the one in the white pump bottle with green and pink label) and O’Keeffe’s Working Hands creme (in the little green tub). The TJ’s lotion is great for arms, legs, etc as well.
I use vitamin E oil on the really dry spots. My sister uses coconut oil.
For my face – I am obsessed with Rosehip Seed Oil and Lancome night cream. I use both and my skin is beautiful!
I use Ponds on my face. I tend to get dry on my cheeks and forehead. As for the body I use Jergens Ultra Healing. I’m the person who cannot stand that after lotion feel, so this really helps. Doesn’t dry sticky either.
I love the Nivea Pure&Natural line (I know it’s not all natural in the slightest, I just like them), face products and the body moisturizer. If I’m super dry I’ll use coconut oil.
I also like using Lush Ultrabland cleanser to remove my makeup, super moisturizing and also super thorough.
clinique face moisterizer for dry skin. I use dove body wash with lotion in it during the winter!
CeraVe’s Skin Renewing night cream is amazing. I use it over my regular face cream (Eucerin Q10) and then top it with vitamin E (I break open the little capsules and get about 3 days’ worth from each one). I also use Avalon Organic’s facial cleansing milk, which doesn’t dry me out but still does a good job at removing all my makeup.
For body, I use Alba Botanica’s Maximum dry skin lotion, and if I’m feeling extra scaly, I’ll mix in some grapeseed oil. I also make sure to exfoliate with a sugar scrub at least once a week, it makes such a difference.
For hand cream, I use The Body Shop’s Hemp Hand Protector. Smells a bit weird but it gets the job done.
I use coconut oil for moisturizing (as well as shaving and removing makeup). For moisturizing, I put it on wet skin right after I turn the shower off, then I pat myself dry with my towel: it leaves my skin moisturized without being overly greasy like when I rub it in on dry skin.
My hands crack and bleed in dry weather, and the only thing that really helps is using a heel balm.
Oil, oil, oil!!
Rosehip oil and jojoba are my favourites for face. Coconut oil for body.
ETA: Glycerin is weird but effective too. You can look up recipes to mix it up into a moisturiser online.
I switch between lotion after a shower and frangipani oil. And this isn’t for everyone, but I love Vaseline, a thin layer on the hands and even a touch on the face before bed, either followed or proceeded by moisturizer. I’m always washing my hands, so dryness is a real concern.
This is the only stuff I can put on my hands and not have come off immediately when I wash my hands (which I do even more often this time of year). I rub it on the tops of my hands only (top to top, no palms) and only need to re apply a couple times throughout the day.
