I’m sorry for this dumb question… but in general, will a rental car company deliver a rental car for you outside of the city?
Reason I’m asking: we are marrying in Iowa in a small town. No rental car place exists.
My photographer is also a friend and she is flying up for the wedding but she HAS to be back the Sunday after, and early as possible, because she has more travel on Monday for her job. So, because of where we’re marrying, the airport is 2.5 hours away and her plane leaves at 9:00 am so basically she’ll have to be on the way to the airport by 5:30 in the morning and that would mean me driving her. I will do it but would rather not, if I can arrange transportation for her some other way.
If I could organize a rental car to be brought to where we are staying the night before, she’s told me she’d be more than happy to drive herself to the airport (and she could drop off the car there too right?)..
I just wonder if a rental company will be willing to do this. The only other thing I could think of is to rent her a car for the entire weekend and let her pick it up when she flies in?

I don’t know if rental cars deliver….but I know they do 1way rentals. They can sometimes be very expensive, but sometimes not at all. It really depends on the city/state. When they are expensive it is almost better to rent the car for the whole weekend – if you can do a ’roundtrip rental’ they often come in cheaper.
For a one way rental I know you said you don’t have a rental car place in your town, how about another town close by? someone could get the car on saturday?
Other than that you can always hire a car service – towncar or a taxi. Again depends on where you are located. Just renting a car for the whole weekend could be cheaper than a car service. I take those to the airport all the time where I live because it is the same price as a taxi.

Can you not call a taxi?
In my experience its more of a hassle dealing with a rental car place and very few deliver (enterprise is the only one coming to mind and its expensive). Most airports have a transport service or at least numbers for taxis and they work all hours.

I don’t know if you are flying to Des Moines or Iowa city, but here is a link to the Des Moines airport transportation info. I bet hiring a limo would be cheaper than renting a car for a day. Driving her yourself will certainly be the cheapest option.

@MrsPinkPeony: It’s all rather confusing and the logistics of this are giving me a headache. The issue is that all the closest towns that would have a rental car (so she could take a taxi to get a car?) are so far away that it’s way too expensive to go that route.
For example, if I could get her to one town an hour and 20 minutes away she can take a shuttle van from there to the airport. That is only $30, which is fine, but the taxi from the town we’re marrying in to get to the shuttle is over $100 from what I’ve read/heard.
I was assuming a rental would be cheaper.
@Coloradolov: Yeah I am starting to think maybe I should try and get a car for her on Friday and do a weekend rental and she can drop it off Sunday? Airport to airport. But I don’t know. I am picking her up at the airport on Friday, and also my SIL, hopefully at the same time (SIL hasn’t booked flight yet though).
