@candy11:  This board is going full up quick with mothers who used the pull out method.

Some stats per Planned Parenthood:

  • Of every 100 women whose partners use withdrawal, 4 will become pregnant each year if they always do it correctly.

  • Of every 100 women whose partners use withdrawal, 27 will become pregnant each year if they don’t always do it correctly.

If I was not okay with getting pregnant now I would not use this method  For example the pill is 99% effective and everyone knows a few people who got pregnant taking the pill.

Sex ed tells me that you can get preggers this way because sometimes there is sperm in the pre ejaculatory fluid. But i have no personal experience with this.

How do you know that if he’s inside of you? If you really don’t want to get pregnant, I’d use something else for birth control. That 27 out of 100 statistic is freaky, especially because 100 out of 100 wouldn’t become pregnant in a year even if all of those couples were trying for kids.

I’ve heard that it is ineffective a lot of the time. I know someone who got pregnant that way.

@candy11:  I think that would be really difficult to know. Once a guy is turned on the pre-cum stuff is kind of leaking out constantly

So obviously your chances are lower, but there is def a chance you could get pg even if he is really careful

I had a friend who used to joke “What do you call a couple who uses the pull out method?”… “Parents!”.

It’s how she says she got pregnant. (“says” part may sound bad, but I’m just literal and I wasn’t there at the time lol).

And as others said, pre-cum has a chance of having viable sperm which could impregnate a woman, not a great chance, but it happens.

Every school I went to that had sex ed/health that touched on sex said the same thing (parents moved a lot).

Yes you definitely can – the pre-ejaculate as others said can come out at any time and often kind of “leaks” so you probably wouldn’t notice it.

Pre-ejaculate actually doesn’t really have sperm in it unless he has recently ejaculated and not gone to the bathroom in between. It’s also hard to know for sure exactly how “good” or “bad” a guy is at it. If you aren’t ok with getting pregnant, don’t use WD- at least not  during your FW.

My understanding is that like all forms of birth control when used correctly it has a good chance of working (96% which is comparable to other forms of birth control). The reason it is not taught in schools is that it is not something that a 16 year old boy could be trusted to have the self control to do. Pre-ejaculate is real but as long as he has urinated since the last time he ejaculated there should be not sperm.

Precum can contain sperm if he has recently ejaculated, otherwise it’s relatively free of sperm.

However, this is not a “safe” method if you do not want to become pregnant. you say “not a drop” comes out of him, however, you don’t know this. Even a man with the most respectable ejaculatory control will still leak, precum or otherwise.

If a baby is not in your future yet, be smart and get on a form of a birth control.
