Ok, what is the point of the sendoff? Do the bride and groom really leave from right there and go straight to their honeymoon? I don’t think I’d want to leave my reception any earlier than my guests! I want to see everyone and party! And I don’t leave for the honeymoon til 48 hours later. So.. what’s the point? I am totally missing something I’m sure. lol

Send offs are great photo ops, but we are staying at our venue, so we won’t be doing one. Send offs are a very old tradition where the bride and groom did actually leave for their honeymoon directly at the end of the reception, then the guests would still party or leave.

In the old days, the bride and groom were supposed to leave the reception first, because their leaving was the signal that the guests could leave. That’s when the idea of the send-off started.
These days, the bride and groom are often the last to leave. Thus, a lot of people have the send-off at the end of the ceremony instead of at the end of the reception. Or (like us) they skip it altogether.
