you can have more than one “ringbearer”…

for example: I have 6 nephews ranging in age from 6 months-12 years old, 2 of which are 2 years old. the 2 year olds, and the 7 year old will be acting as what normally would be “ringbearers” — i.e., walking down the aisle at the designated time for a ringbearer. However, the 7 year old is not going to carry a pillow, and will most likely “escort” my 8 year old niece who is the “flowergirl” (despite her age) down the aisle, and the 2 year olds will act as traditional “ringbearers”

my 11 and 12 year old nephews are going to hand out programs, and seat my mom (their grandmother),their moms, and other special family members of the bride.

If you are having the ceremony in a church one of them could be the bellringer.  I attended a wedding where one of the kids was assigned to pull the rope for the church bells after the ceremony-the child loved it, and felt very important playing that role.  🙂
