OK, so Fiance and I are thinking about having a small (15ppl) Destination Wedding where we live (OBX – so I guess it’s a Destination Wedding for our guests) and then having a cocktail party reception in DE where we are from. We have only been engaged for 7 weeks, so haven’t really done any planning. Just brainstorming.
My concerns/questions with this…
What do I wear to the cocktail party reception (may be a full meal, depending on prices). I Polled this the other day. I really would want my friends to see my gown, but I don’t want to feel like it feels forced or something.
I want the big entrance into the reception, but would it be anti-climatic? Awkward?
Flowers? Would I get a 2nd bouquet?
I told Fiance if we do this, I want to either hire a videographer or recruit a friend to videotape the highlights of the wedding and show a short 10 minute video at the reception. Would you do this on a big projector screen? Maybe just have it looping over and over near the guest book when people walk in?
Obviously, like I said, we are new to this whole “being engaged” thing. These are just some questions that have popped into my head while I’m bored at work. I’ve never been to a reception-only event! How does it work as far as etiquette and stuff?
