    We’re doing this: http://www.storymixmedia.com/weddings/

Mostly because we are having the entire wedding (all 21 of us) staying on one property for a week and have promised unlimited mai-tais to our videographers. We wanted the entire trip (and all of our inebriated antics) to be recorded not just the wedding. Plus, it’d be so much more cost efficient to have our nearest and dearest record things for the whole week rather than paying a videographer to follow us around for 7 days.

Sorry for the long diatribe. I just love that company.

@traveller:  We had one for 3.5 hours which was plenty enough. We got a short edited video as well as a full length one. I am so glad we did this!

Here is a link to our short highlighted video….totaly worth the money if you are on the fence!

I can’t decide! Fiance thinks we will never watch it and it’s a waste of money. I’m not so sure if we will watch it, or if we really want the speeches immortalized like that. At our resort we can pay $500 for ceremony only or $800 for 3 hours (ceremony + speeches)…

On the one hand I really want it, but on the other hand that could be the refrigerator for our new house. Money is a little tight right now, but it won’t be in two years, and I’m worried I will regret not pulling just a tiny bit more from savings for something I can never get back… ugh!

I’m in the same boat.  My Fiance is saying no to the video, it’s expensive and he thinks we might never watch it.  I thought about playing the shorter version at our at home reception for the people who didn’t come.  I think I really want it but it’s hard to justify the money

I want a video really badly, but a videographer just isn’t in the budget. I lucked out and our photographer is starting to do video (and is REALLY good) and agreed to shoot a bit after she’s sure that I have all of the pictures that I want. So I’ll have some getting ready footage, ceremony footage, etc.

I know that videographers are expensive ladies, but it would suck to be kicking yourself in the butt afterward! As has been mentioned, try asking if you could minimize what’s included to cut down on costs a little bit. Remember that videographers are business owners, and they need to make money. Negotiations are fair game!

I can edit video myself, so I’m just paying for the raw footage. I think it’s worth to have the moments; i’m just not for the editing process. I don’t think I’ll get to it right away, but I think I’ll enjoy the process of picking the best moments.

@Brittany0503:  You used high def vi as well right?

Silly question but how did you get it on YouTube? He sent me a link on vimeo that requires a password and I’ve been trying to figure out how to get it on YouTube to send out that doesn’t require a password. I know it’s prob simple but I’m pretty computer illeterate at times…..
