Hi, I am hoping to have a Destination Wedding in NYC, getting married in Central Park and then having a reception somewhere. This is where I am getting stuck! As I’m from Scotland, there will only be about 25-30 people. I would like a private room, with a dancefloor (need to get the ceilidh dancing on the go!) and be able to have it all evening…
I have got info from ASTRA, and really like the look for that. Does anyone have experience of them or any other suggestions for me?
Also, its going to be in July, canI get honest opinions on temperature and humidity in July, (I know it will be hot…just not sure if it will be unbareably hot!)
Thank you so much for any info!

@wwbga: First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Central Park wedding will be amazing. Be prepared, it is going to be hot. July is the hottest month in New York, with the average being around 86 degrees, and you have to factor in the humidity, so it will feel even hotter. Not trying to be a downer, just want trying to give you the facts.
As far as places, what type of budget do you have for the reception venue? Let me know, and I will try and help.

it will be hot, but not unbearable…
if you want to consider moving your reception from central park to fort tryon park, you can consider New Leaf. its good for a small group.
maybe try posting this on the NYC board?

July will be super hot, unfortunately. It might not be that enjoyable to come here then.

I just had my ceremony in Central Park on June 30. It was hot, but it was what we wanted to do. There are many areas that are shaded or under tresselsso that is an option to help keep you cool. I had a lovely wedding and wouldn’t have done it differently, even with the hot weather.

Unfortunately July is the only time that we can get married in NY. Lucky I like the heat!
Liartist- Where did you have your ceremony? Do you have any other recommendations in Central Park?

@JesseB: We had our ceremony at Bethesda Fountain. We chose that place for several reasons.
1. It is where we had our first date and is special to us. He also tried to propose at that spot but it was so crowded, he knew I would be uncomortable! (He did it in another area in the park). So basically it has special meaning for us.
2. There is a beautiful area that, in the event of rain, you can easily go under for your ceremony and is artfully decorated and beautiful in itself.
There are many areas in the park where you can have your ceremony. It depends on your taste and what you would prefer.

Do some research and see what you like best as far as the scenery and look of the area.
Bethesda Fountain. We got married on the other side of the fountain closest to the pond!
