My future hubby and I met in Korea where we both still live. He’s from the US, I’m from Canada so it was going to be a destination for someone no matter what. We picked Punta Cana to give everyone an excuse for a nice vacation & it worked! We have 30+ confirmed and about 15 “maybes”
For favors I had the idea of having custom made shot glasses for each guest on the table. Rather than inviting everyone to sip champagne with us for our toast we thought we’d have a few bottles of Soju (Korean alcohol) passed around to fill their newly acquired shot glasses with. Part of our speech would include The Korean customs around Soju (never pour yourself, alway accept by holding your glass with two hands, etc.) and “cheers” in Koren. We were thinking that this would be a nice nod to where we met without going too overboard.
Is this a silly favor? Or not a favor at all?
Side note* We are doing really nice welcome bags for everyone (tumblers, OTC meds, etc.)

I think that’s actually really well thought out; not silly at all! π

I think it’s very cute, but just a warning that my cousin did shot glass favors and a lot of them were left behind at the tables. (They also couldn’t have shots at the wedding…the m&ms in them were eaten though.) She didn’t do a cultural custom, which I think is a nice idea though and might inspire people to keep it as a momento!

i don’t think it’d be too weird, but most of the people i know who have tried soju think is DISGUSTING so it may not be the fun moment you imagine

@SuprMe: Normally I’d say cheesy but since you are incorporating it into your reception, I think it’s great!

@bebero: lol, yeah Soju isn’t for everyone. Though compared to the moonshine I know much of my family makes/has had it isn’t too bad. + open bar through cocktail hour & dinner should lighten the bite a bit π
If nothing else I can hope the photographer catches some of the sour faces, hahaha π

@kay01: I think a lot of favors get left behind. I won’t be too upset if it happens, I mean I’m kinda forcing them to use it at least once (^.^)

Thanks everyone! Feeling a lot more confident that this will work π I have already photoshopped out the design and got the okay from the resort (they said I could do whatever I want as long as its not illegal, lol) Now, just got to place the order π

Love the tradition and would be totally excited to do that but I probably wouldn’t keep my shotglass. I’ve got to many already.
