@Zusie:  I contacted a salon that was highly recomended by other bees to come to my hotel the day of to do my hair/makeup.

I too thought of doing my own makeup b/c I do a decent job with my makeup but decided I wanted to be pampered that day and not lift a finger…LOL. Plus I decided to go with airbrush makeup which I can’t do

Not sure where you are getting married but I started a post asking for recomendations in USVI and had several bees reccomend to me Sugar and Spice salon so I went with them. I am having a trial run with my hair stylist here and showing pics to my stylist there so that way I can practice with dif looks ahead of time!

Where are you getting married?

I am having someone come to me at the hotel.  I am getting married in FL so its easier.  Several other destination brides that I know went to the salon at their resort.  Where are you getting married?

I have oily skin so I want airbrush makeup in the hot, humid weather! So, I’m treating myself, my MOH, and my mom to our hair, makeup, and nails for 500.  It also includes champagne and my hair and makeup trial the day before.  Might as well go all out, I never treat myself!

@Zusie:  i plan to look for recommendations, either local hairdresser places or the people who work at the hotel that im staying at. im definitely going to do a hair and makeup trial before (hopefully i should have some free time to do that a few days before the wedding). im even debating having a hair trial near where i live…so i can ask what the options are without feeling pressured to make decisions fast when there – i dont know, maybe im a bit OTT about it!

i know i want the airbrush makeup so it needs to be somewhere that can handle that. and i kind of need somebody who speaks english so i can communicate what i want, so i guess those two things are going to limit my options a little bit!

My hair and make up is included in the wedding package.  I guess I have no choice but to trust that person.  I’ll bring pictures of hairstyles that I want with me.

I had mine done at the resort and my hair and makeup were wonderful! Just be sure to bring pictures along so you can give them an idea of what you want done.  I did leave myself some time between the hair appt and the wedding just in case I needed to do my makeup over.  Thankfully it all worked out!

I had mine done at the resort, and honestly, I kinda winged (wung?) it. I had set up a trial for both, which they were going to charge me full price for, so I canceled. Because I didn’t do a trial, I made the appt for 4 hours before the ceremony in case I needed to do my own hair and makeup as a back up.

It turned out AWESOME. I was so happy with both my hair and makeup – I was in the Dominican, and let me tell you, they know how to deal with that crazy heat and humidity! My hair held up and their make up withstood the extreme amount of sweating and blotting that was going on that day. (Honestly, I had one of my bridesmaids on blot patrol – poor thing)

Makeup, I had one wrong turn with the eyeshadow, but she just wiped it off, started again and it was perfect. No regrets.
