- Wedding: September 2013
Weve planned a destination wedding but I am unsure what’s the protocol with paying for BM’s.. Would love any help, suggestions or rules of thumb!
Travel I have left as their expense as if they were guests not in the wedding party, they’d be paying this anyway so I know it won’t be an expectation from them..
Ive already purchased the hair pieces to wear, i’ve got a matching pair or earrings selected for each of them from etsy that are sterling silver and cz so I will purchase these to go in gorgeous mirrored jewelry boxes as keep sales for them. Plus I’m getting gorgeous floral satin robes and wraps a bridesmaid tank top to wear. As well as a lipstick which will be the colour for the day and then they can retouch throughout the day/night as they need. I presume that this will all be their ” Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts” and I’ll present them all nicely in gift bags with tissue to suit my colour scheme. So that’s all sorted easily but what happens with the shoes, the dressEs, the hair and make up on the day??
2 of my BM’s have never been Bridesmaid or Best Man before, and nor have I, so I am not sure what they’re expecting or what’s the norm when it comes to these purchases.
Id happily buy the dresses but then would it be ok for them to purchase the shoes, plus pay hair and make up date day or are these usually covered by the bride!?
Id love to know how you brought this up with your BM’s too, we are all over the country so I tend to email about the wedding plans so should I just email outlining what I will pay for and askrid they are happy to cover the other costs with an approx budget for each so they know well in advanced the costs associated ontop of travel…..
Arh all so hard! Would love help! Thanks xx
