I need your advice ladies. I haven’t put any color in my hair for over 9 years, only because I’m terrible with keeping it up! However, I’m now considering dyeing it a little darker (dark chestnut brown) than my ashy black (just for shine and a hint of color). Do you think this is a good idea? If I were to proceed, how early or late should I get this done? Thanks!

I was going to say do a trial and see how it works for you, but you don’t have much time. Given your time limitations, I would go to the best colorist you can find about a week before the wedding. Get recommendations from people whose color you adore. Make sure to do a bunch of research before choosing.
I’m a bit of a risk taker with my hair, though… so I’m really interested to hear what others say. I bet many people would say leave it rather than take the risk!

I would go now (now now now, like this Saturday!). I’m not sure what your date is in May, but you probably have at least 6 weeks before your wedding. So I would go now & then go back about a week before your ewdding to have it touched up.
I always think that once you get your hair done, you have an idea of how to improve it (for example, "Next time, I’ll go two shades lighter." or "Next time, I’ll have more highlights put in.") So if you go now, you’ll have time to see how it washes and fades & figure out if you want to do anything different next time.

I’ve decided on doing a semi-permanent with gloss a month before my wedding date. Hope this will make my hair look more attractive and not so blah… Thank you all for your suggestions!
