i love our dyson…we have the animal though. So I’m no help in what category to go with. I have had it for 6 years and it still works like it did the day I got it, which never happens!

I love (love! love!) our dyson animal DC25. We own a condo that’s about 900 sq feet, 3 cats, wood/carpet flooring, and it’s awesome. My husband is always shocked at how much it picks up.. and it’s so easy to empty.

You can turn off the spinning brush when you’re vacuuming wood/laminate flooring (they recommend you do this because of scratching). It also comes with a bunch of really great attachments. There’s nothing I like more than waking up to the sound of the dyson and my husband with the brush attachment cleaning the blinds.

We’ve had ours for about a year with no problems and it’s used pretty much everyday. It’s even great at picking up litter.

Edit:
My mom actually has the DC28 and she prefers mine (as do I). It’s lighter and easier to use. What I do like about hers is there is different “levels” of vaccuming. I.E. Deep carpet, med carpet, and short.

We also have a pet and live in a apartment (you know how apartment carpet is) but I LOVE our Dyson. I was lucky enough, well maybe spoiled enough, that I got it as a gift. But anyway, it’s amazing, still works like it did the day we took it out of the box. I worked at Bed Bath and Beyond and never once in 5 years did I have a complaint about one…they really stand behind their product though so if you ever have issues Dyson will take care of you.

As far as the ball…we didn’t get it, but that’s because I just wasn’t a huge fan of it. I just didn’t feel like it made a huge difference.

We have the DC24 with the ball and it is A-MAZ-ING. Our carpet practically turned a shade lighter after the first time we used it from all the dust it sucked up.

I love my Dyson. We have  cat that sheds soooo much fur and there is a rug in our lounge room that used to take forever for me to vacuum, it used to frustrate the hell out of me. The day I got my Dyson and just zipped over it and got it looking brand new, I actually cried!

Edit: I have the Dyson DC33 Standup

We LOVE our D25 dyson ball 🙂 Our family has the Blueprint limited edition but it’s my understanding that all the D25s are the same vacuum with different attachments. We would totally recommend it to anyone.

I have the original yellow one upright and LOVE it. We have a dog that sheds like crazy and I would say our home is half carpet, half hardwood. We’ve had it for over 3 years now and still works like day 1! My Brother-In-Law has the same one and his is still awesome and they’ve had it for four now? ILs have the animal one for about 4+ and they had 3 dogs and 2 cats and that thing is still going strong!

My other Brother-In-Law had the ball Dyson and he had 2 cats, all hardwood and seemed to like it fine.

If storage is an issue I might go with the ball over the standard upright since it’s slimmer?

I also have the original yellow upright and I love it! We have 2 cats and a dog that all shed A LOT. That vacuum is amazing at picking up stuff. It works just as well on hardwood floors as it does on the carpet (we have all hardwood in our house and then a few area rugs). I really like it because it is fairly quiet compared to a normal vacuum – the animals dont even run away when we start the vacuum and Darling Husband and I can still talk while vacuuming. The canister is soo easy to empty and put back in. Once it fills up, you literally just push a button to get it out and empty it and then snap it back in place.

The attachments work well too and the hose is very long (we vacuum our ceilings with no problem).

We just received the animal dyson with the ball and we LOVE IT!  The ball makes it so easy to turn around the sofas and coffee table.  Seriously I never thought my fiance would be fighting with me over who gets to vacuum.  I really don’t think you can go wrong with which ever one you pick.  I’d go to the store and try them out just pushing them.

Not sure on DC33 vs 25, but I have the 25 and love it. In making my selection I think I just bought into the hype of having “the ball”..haha…but I haven’t regretted it so far. It definitely is nice in my living room to be able to navigate around the couch, etc smoothly.

I agree with the poster above..you probably can’t go wrong as far as cleaning power goes…just test them out and see which you prefer to push.

I have the Dyson Animal, and I love it.  I hate vacuuming, but this vacuum makes it bearable.  I actually had it before I got a pet, it was a housewarming present.
