We have the original yellow Dyson. Have had it for 3 years and works as great as day one! ๐Ÿ™‚ We have a dog that sheds A LOT.

I’ve seen the new rolling ball ones and they look awesome and space efficient. I wonder if they work as well as the original design though?

We have the original yellow one as well and we love it. We have a dog and 2 cats that shed a LOT. It gets everything up! It is also really easy to use to vacuum the couch and other furniture. Ive heard great things about the Pet one and the ball.

I have the Animal with the ball and I LOVE it. I can’t believe how much dust and cat hair (and people hair…) it picks up!!! Seriously, it’s incredible. I love the attachments that come with it for doing upholstery. The only thing I don’t like about Dyson’s is that they don’t have a retractable cord. It makes me a bit insane, but for the quality of the vacuum I’m willing to deal with it. It’s also a bit heavier than my old little vacuum, but I find that it’s easy to maneuver although a little clumsy on stairs. It does an AMAZING job on our carpeted stairs though. Omg. We would spend HOURS trying to get the cat hair off those puppies and the Dyson does it in 10 minutes!!!

The canister ones work more like a dust vac than a regular vacuum cleaner.

Do you have carpeting in your house/apt? If you do, you want the upright ones.

A coworker of my husbands got a canister one and he said although it works very well it doesn’t hold a charge for long.

I own the pet one and it is amazing!  So worth the money!  I would go with the upright.

His coworker has the DC31 which is a handheld vacuum. So when you’re not using it it stays plugged in to charge. When you use it you unplug it.

I didn’t realize they have those other “canister” ones now as well!

Unless you live in a city (and always will) in which space is a huge concern I would still go with a upright for flexibility. Who knows, in 5 years you might be in a house where there is a lot more carpeting.

It looks like the canister ones will be more of a hassle to lug around vacuuming a whole room.

Do you have a retailer nearby that carries it? Maybe go see it in person and see how each style handles for you?

I also own the pet one and I don’t know what I would do without it.  Dyson vacuums are the best!

I have one of the originals (DC07) and it’s pink because it was a special edition breast cancer one. I love it to bits, I’m actually considering the new dyson digital slim (DC35) for my birthday or our registry… WAY handy for quick jobs or dusting!
