I have the Shark, mainly due to the cost difference.  LOVE. IT.  🙂  So worth the savings!

my mother got her dyson animal about 5-10 years ago. It worked really well up until recently when it broke, and the repairs were so costly we just bought a $40 dirt devil. Honestly the dirt devil works better than the dyson ever did.

i have the dyson animal vac. It is costly but it cleans everything so well.  The other thing I like about it is that it is super light and no cords. I hate pushing around a heavy vacuum.  The only downsides are the charge lasts about 20 mins but it works well for me because we have a small place.  The other downside is that you have to push and hold the power button while vacuuming which can get kind of annoying if you have to use it for a while.  If dyson would fix that I think it would be perfect.

We used to have a Shark. It worked very well. But we replaced it about 2 years ago with a Dyson Ball, and I will never go back!!!! It’s amazing!!

My husband fell for the shark infomercial and the vacuum sales guy at BB&B.  He came home with a new vacuum.  It works amazing!!  The amount of hair that it picks up is insane!  With 3 dogs and a cat- we needed something better than our oreck.  I will recommend the shark to anyone who asks!  (And for the price difference, someone will probably get you the $300 shark vs the $500 dyson!)

We have a dog, and we have not one but TWO Dyson Animal vacs (we were able to purchase one at a third off the retail price when Lowes offered this savings several years ago, and my parents generously paid for the majority of the second one), so that we can keep one on each level. I LOVE them.

The only Shark appliance that I have is the one that steam cleans flooring, so I cannot compare the Shark’s vacuum abilities to the Dyson.

@Cappugcino:  No it doesnt run while its plugged in.  It has 2 settings max and regular. If you use regular it lasts about 20 mins if you use max it will be a liitle less.  I usually use the max for area rugs and regular for the bare floors. The attachment to get animal hair off of furniture is amazing. I have a dark micro fiber  couch and i dont let my dogs on there but there fur still gets all over it. The attachment gets it all off in like 2 mins.  It really great for that purpose.  Sometimes i swiffer the floors after i vacuum them and there is barely any dog hair on them, with my old vacuum there was still a ton of dog hair on the floor.
