I checked my e-file status (used TurboTax) & my taxes were rejected on the 15th (due to the wrong bday entered, my fault)… but TurboTax didn’t notify me!! So now its the 22nd & I’m filing late :(. I don’t owe anything but I know if you file late, you get in trouble. I don’t blame TurboTax for my error HOWEVER I do blame them for not letting me know. When I filed, they said not to worry about anything, everything checked out & if there was a problem they’d let me know. Well I got NO email from them saying it was rejected. I’m going to complain to them once they open on Monday!
So, if you filed your taxes with TurboTax, you should check the status to make sure it actually went thru 🙁

Honestly, you will probably be fine. If you are getting a refund, they are much less concerned with you filing on time than if you owe taxes. If anything, you might get a small fine, but I doubt it!

If you do not owe taxes, it doesn’t matter if you file late. I’m suprised it didn’t email you. Mine emailed me to let me know it was accepted.

My brothers taxes kept getting rejected because of pin issues but I was told as long as you tried to file before the 18th if it was rejected you had till the 22nd to fix it and get it sent in again. So hopefully you’ll be fine 🙂

Thank you :). I’ve never filed late & was afraid late filing even by a day = IRS people would come after me! So as long as I don’t get in trouble, I will forgive TurboTax. I did get an email this morning saying my redone e-file was accepted so at least I fixed the problem :).
@BambeeBliss: I hope I don’t get fined, but if I do in the long run TurboTax saved me a lot of money.
@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: Yea, I don’t know why it didn’t let me know, I got other emails from them. I’ve never had problems with e-filing. Next year, I’ll check the status every day!
@BeautifulKatastrofie: Luckily, I re-filed on the 22nd just before midnight so if that’s true, than I should be good to go :).
I just googled it: If you have a refund, there is no penalty for filing late. Penalties are calculated on the amount due. Since there is no amount due, there is no penalty.
