So I’m having a problem with what to wear for our E-Photos next Tuesday.
We live in Minnesota and our fall colors are finally coming out! We are taking the photos right off Lake Harriet and in the Peace Gardens. Any advice on what colors to wear or NOT to wear?!
I was thinking I would wear a brown turtleneck T with a cute long brown and red beaded necklace, but then what would my fiance wear?! An offwhite sweater was what he picked, would that look silly if he wore a sweater and me a T?

I don’t think it would look silly – not at all! It really depends on your style, ya know? Where something you’re comfortable in!

I think that would be fine since it’s not just a tshirt, but a turtleneck. We have our pics next Friday, and I’m going to wear a short sleeved blouse (in kidney bean) and he’s going to wear a long-sleeved button down. He might roll up the sleeves because I love the way that looks when you can see a little bit of ‘man’ arm. 🙂
He could also wear something blue. I love the way brown and blue look together.
Are you getting nervous for the pics? I am!!

I think what you plan on wearing sounds lovely! It’s hard to choose though, I know. I blogged about my search for our e-pic outfits here.
Good luck with what you choose!

I was told to avoid anything too white or too black. After hearing this I looked at lots of other people’s e-pics and noticed that it really was true: severely light or dark clothing wasn’t as flattering, especially for pics in black and white.
I was also told to avoid wearing anything with short sleeves, because my arms are downright pasty white!
That being said, I love the sound of your brown turtleneck t, and the suggestion from Remi to put him in navy sounds great and very fall appropriate.

I’m having my e-pics done this week too! I think what you are thinking of wearing sounds really cute. I still cannot decide what I am going to wear and am planning on going shopping this afternoon to try to find something. Good luck with your e-pics on next Tuesday 🙂

I am a photographer on the side so I shoot a lot of family and engagement photos.
Here’s what I usually reccomend to clients:
-Don’t wear patterns, wear solids.
-Don’t have a brand plastered across your shirt.
-Wear complimentary colors (for example brown sweater on you and blue shirt on him). Don’t match because two black tops is going to look like a big blob of black in the pics.
-I would not wear white.
I am getting my engagement pictures taken sunday. We will both be in dark jeans. I am wearing a chocolate brown sweater nd my fiance is wearing a kelly green polo shirt.
Good luck, it sounds like you are on the right track!

I am very nervous! I dont’ have to worry about the pasty part for short sleeves 🙂 We just returned from a California wedding so we have some good color in us!
I love the idea of a button down shirt Remi!!! AND the blue!!! He always wears them when we go out and rolls up the sleeves. It’s sexy with a little forearm showing, I hear you on that one! I think a pair of dark jeans is a weekend shopping must! And we might be set! Thanks bees for all of your help! You’re the best!

Dammit if patterns and black is out I don’t know what I’m going to do now! I’m not my slimmest and those are my go-to options for concealing the extra chunk. @jaylii9 – you just ruined my day! j/k. kind of.

It sounds like you have the right idea with the colors! The only thing you might want to think about, since you’re doing outdoor pictures is that it might be quite cold. I live in Minnesota too, and it looks like it will still be in the 50’s next week. You want to be comfortable when you’re doing the engagement shoot, not shivering the whole time.

I think it will look nice with you in a turtleneck and him in a sweater. If you both wear turtlenecks, it will probably look too matchy matchy. I’m not sure what the weather is like there but make your you dress for the weather! We had our engagement pictures last October in Colorado and we were FREEZING. Literally, our hands were shaking by the end, wishing we had gloves or mittens!

Screw the rules about not wearing white and patterns! I wore both in 2 different shoots and our photos freaking rocked. Wear what makes you feel your best, and your confidence will shine through.
