Gold will scratch, it’s just a sad fact of life.  Especially on the underside where your hand touches things.

That is typical, it happens. You should see my platinum after a month of being redipped, it looks like I never even got it done! I wouldn’t worry about it, that’s what happens with rings we wear frequently.

Just get it rhodium plated it may have been a freak accident but it is still typical Maintanence it doesnt matter how careful youthose scratcheswill happen I have seen rings that look matte finish because they went to a tropical place and sand , sand / salt water can even alter your finish  within a weeks time there’s nothing defective about your ring do you don’t even to compromise sentimental values at all

Yep, it happens. Eventually all the scratches will kind of blend together and you won’t notice as much. I’ve had my ring for 2 months and I barely notice the scratches now — and no one else does either!

If it is “chiped” and not scratched they didn’t clean the ring well enough before plating / dipping it but that is still fixable just point it out and check it before you leave after if has been fixed with a warranty non of this will cost you anything anyway

I’ve had my ring just over a month now and there’s little wear and tear marks on the bottom.  I think it’s just life.  I kind of like it that way tho. It makes it feel more real, and more mine if that makes any sense ~_~ Mine is also yellow gold tho, so i don’t have to worry about flaking or plating.

18k gold is softer and will show scratches faster than 14k. If your other ring is 14k or 10k, that’s probably why your engagement ring is showing wear at a faster rate.

It depends on your chemical makeup some some people need to dip theres every sixmonths and some don’t have to for several years… Many jewelry stores provide warranty /care plans for there jewelry for an extra one time charge making prong tightening, sizing, dipping and any other normal wear and tear issues and this is covered for life usually some stores have 5 year ones :/ and ot usually takes a week … If you don’t have this option or prefer not to leave your ring anywhere many local Jewelers can do these things while you wait … Prices can vary and metal prices change over time … its roughly 35-40 to redip a ring

@MissCoCo: I get my platinum dipped every year because there’s no yellow color underneath so I don’t really need it. I get my white gold dipped every 6 months because it’s free with my warranty and yellow tones look bad on me.

I’ve had it take between an hour and 2 weeks. It depends on your jewelery and sometimes on the day of week that you visit. Some have to send it away, and some have someone on staff. I think the longest I waited a couple years ago was 3 weeks.

If you have a plan with the jeweler, dipping should be free. Otherwise it’s about $40.
