Okay soooo from day one after getting my E-Ring which I absolutely loved, we had nothing but problems with it. Fiance wanted to get me the best ring possible and make sure that it was the ring of my dreams. I remember mentioning to him that I have always wanted an E-Ring with a heart shaped diamond. OF COURSE finding the perfect ring with a heart shaped diamoned was no easy task for mt Prince Charming because being the type of person that I am, I wanted something very specific. As luck would have it, he was EXACTLY the kind of ring that I described to him. The problem? The company that sold (which will remain anonymous for reasons that I will state below) it was in New York and are are in California. There was a bit of a struggled because an E-Ring isn’t just some plain ole purchase so getting one online is risky business. However, all Fiance wanted was to make me happy so he took a chance and purchased the ring. The owner of the compant spoke with him several times to figure out my ring size and so on and so forth and it all seemed good and dandy. When the ring finally arrived, Fiance wasn’t all too pleased with it and he only told me this recently. He said that it looked a hell of a lot better in the pictures than in person. How many times does that happen? *Sarcasm* HOWEVER he knew that this was the kind of ring that I wanted and therefore he proposed with it….
Problem #1 ==> The ring was too big despite the fact that the owner claimed that it was a size 6.
I thought that perhaps I got my size wrong and therefore I went to THREE different jewelers to get sized and they ALL said that I was a size six. I KNEW IT!!! So what did we do? We sent the ring back to get it resized. I HATED not having my ring on for a whole week (felt A LOT longer than that). When I finally got it back, I was ready to punch a wall.
Problem #2 ==> The ring was STILL to big AND due to the fact that the head setting was set too high, the diamond wasn’t secure enough and it had shifted!!!
I was freaking out and took it back to my jewler who told me to send it back ASAP because if I continute to wear it the diamond was going to fall out and I would MOST DEFINITELY lose it. By this point I was slowly falling into a depressive state over this damned ring. I was supposed to wear it with pride and show it off and instead I was constantly sending it back o have it fixed. Mind you, by this point we had been engaged for LESS THAN TWO MONTHS!!!! Obviously I voiced my anger in a well worded letter to the company when I sent my ring back yet AGAIN. Finally when I got it back…well…let’s just say that by that point I was just too tired to do much…
Problem #3 ==> During the resizing they damaged the bottom of the band and when resetting the head into a lower position they reset it in a crooked way.
I’m a little OCD when it comes to things being straight and perfect so OBVIOUSLY I would notice the imperfections that my E-Ring now had but by that point I was sooo tired with constantly having to send it back that I just decided to bite my tongue and wear the ring. Don’t get me wrong, I abolutely LOVED my E-Ring but the constant problems and seeing those little imperfections was driving me NUTS!!!! Don’t even get my started on FI’s reaction to everything. I was starting to simmer down a little, that is…until about two weeks ago…
Problem #4 ==> The prongs were STILL loose!!!
I was sitting at work just killing the last 20 minutes or so and looked down at my ring and what do you think I saw? One of the prongs holding the diamond had come loose. Now now before you start saying that I wasn’t careful enough with my ring let me just say that I was a little TOO careful with my ring especially with everything that I’ve had to go through with it. This was the last straw. I was TIRED of having to send it back and so I carefully approached Fiance and talked with him about resetting the diamond into a whole new ring. Although he was sensitive about the subject especially with all of the searching that he had to do when looking for the ring in the first place but he understood where I was coming from and hell, even he was tired of continuously having to send the ring back only to get it back in an even worse state. I love this man for being such an understanding person. We looked at some rings online because I decided that I would love to reset it into a heart shaped HALO setting. At first I wasn’t too fond of halos but after looking at them for quite some time I realized that I was DEFINITELY a halo girl. Couldn’t help myself. I took my current ring to my jeweler with a picture of the design that I wanted. The next morning she gives me a call and let’s me know that she is able to recreate the exact ring on the picture that I showed. I couldn’t have been happier. Everything was FINALLY falling into place with this ring drama. The price she gave me was more than reasonable so after talking with Fiance I gave her the green light to go ahead and get to work on it.
This was exactly a week ago today so I still don’t have the ring and am getting impatient because I hate not wearing my E-Ring. I will most definitely post some pictures of me wearing it when I finally have it but for now, I can post up the online pictures of what the ring wil look like…
And yes the setting will have those vintage like hearts on the side which I am SUPER excited about.
Fiance most DEFINITELY approved of this new setting so now we’re waiting in HAPPY anticipation for the final product.
More pictures to come later on…
