What a wonderful outcome! You have such lovely family members.

If grandma’s ring will be occational use, then a garnet is fine. Spinel and sapphire are available in that color. I’ve posted a few stones that I like, colors vary. But, the ones you posted look well-cut (Gemfix?). You’ll have to measure Grandma’s stone for size. I would really really lower that stone in the setting too! It will make it more wearable.
