First off – you all are a giant help for a guy who didnt know anything about rings or diamonds before. So to each one of you contributing to these forums I thank you.
I am looking for opinions on what you all think of this ring. I suppose I am used to round cuts therefore I think this princess looks a little smaller than I thought it would be. I doubt the pictures will show enough to get accurate size. I guess I am just looking to hear what you all think based on what I can provide if it appears to be close to what it should be. I havent asked yet but should be what she wants…halo, princess, split shank.
Specs are .98ct princess F SI1 1.73tcw ring size 7
My apologies if a post like this isnt allowed.

Princesses face up much smaller than a round of the same ct weight, so it will definitely look smaller if youre used to rounds.
Did you buy this with a certificate? The cut looks more like a radiant.

Beautiful ring! Did your girlfriend specify she wanted a princess cut halo split shank? Or is this a ring you’ve created yourself? The square diamond you show is not a princess cut. It is either radiant or a crushed ice cushion. Will this matter to her?

I didnt design anything. It was what she said she wanted. I was told it was a princess but I dont think it would matter to her. I’ll attach another picture to see what you both think. Thanks for the replies.

Maybe its the way the stone photographs? If they said it’s a princess cut then I’m sure it is. I’m just used to seeing princess cuts have more splintery lines.
Either way the ring is very very pretty!! I’m sure she’ll love it!

The stone is definitely a princess cut. Maybe the rounded corners of the Halo make it look like a different shape a little bit? I think it is beautiful! Great job!

teambill4 : If she said she wanted a princess cut with a halo and a split shank, that’s it. I think it’s pretty. Not my personal style but it sounds like what she said, unless she is ultra picky.

Thank you all. I appreciate the kind words and it has sort of helped my feelings that it is what its supposed to be. This forum is excellent because of you all!

okay, I hate to be the one that comes in here without a ton of positive feedback, and I almost chose to say nothing at all. But one thing I think I should comment on/ask about is the setting of the stone. In your pictures, it almost appears as if it’s not perfectly centered within the halo. This could just be because of the position of the ring in relation to the camera though. But it’s definitely something to double check in case your jeweler needs to make any last minute adjustments. With that said, I hope she loves it!

Very pretty ring. I love the pic on your pinky lol. Major points for getting her what she wants.
Now the most important part: don’t WAIT MONTHS to propose! There is a board here called “waiting”. It’s full of ladies who are now emotionally broken and doubt themselves and their relationship bc their partners dragged them along for years w/o getting engaged and they are resentful even after it happens. Others are wrought with anxiety bc the guy has had the ring for months and has not proposed claiming to wait for the “ideal perfect Instagram-worthy special surprise”, hereby setting the wedding planning, kids, life together back years! Waiting too long would also make it impossible to return the ring if there was something structurally wrong/she didn’t like. So be the kind of guy we love i.e. the one who can’t wait to marry us. Good luck

lili91 : I was wondering the same for a moment but it’s more than likely camera angle. The pic of the stone straight on looks perfect.
Now go propose!!! 🙂
