I work in the medical field and wear latex gloves every day. I am a little worried about comfort when it comes to my ring and how low the setting is because I think this is an important factor for my lifestyle. Did any of you Bees choose a low setting? Is it more comfortable like you hoped? If you didn’t choose a low setting, does it ever get in the way or snag on anything? Thanks for all advice!

When I’m at work I wear a bezel set ering. It has no sharp corners and it very low profile. I work in the lab so glove changes happen a lot!

I guess my ring is a “normal” profile, maybe 8 mm high? I put latex gloves on and take them off several times during a shift at work and it’s never been a problem. The only time I take my ring off is if I need to wear sterile gloves.

I had my ring custom made to make sure that the profile was as low as possible (while still letting me get all the benefits of a blingy ring that I wanted). What helps for wearing gloves is I got claw prongs instead of post prongs (the claws hug the ring instead of poking out). I wanted a halo, but I wanted the band to sit flush, so there is a small bridge underneath my halo. I wanted the detail of a fleur-de-lis, but it took a bit of tweaking to get it low enough. So far it’s been comfortable under my gloves and it has yet to break thru a pair.

eco710: I’m not sure if you can see well by my ring is my profile picture but its not overly high set. I work in the medical field as well. I luckily work in a facility where I can wear my ring on a chain since I really don’t like the idea of passing on bacteria to others where I work from my diamonds. Yes there are gloves and I do wear them but I always think “what if” so I feel much better knowing I’m doing everything I can to avoid it. When I first started looking for rings I kept having the “gotta find a low setting”. I spoke to my fiance and to the sales people at the jewellry store and they said its not really a concern thats brought up much. My fiance and I ended up choosing the e-ring we both loved. As for wedding bands, my fiance suggested that I get a plain band to wear at work and than the matching diamond band we use for when we go out and not at work. I don’t know if this is what I want to do yet, we are going to pick our wedding bands in May so we’ll see. Maybe you could get the set you want and than a stand in low set for work (can get sets from overstock, etsy, ebay etc for low costs)?

eco710: Like @msformaldehyde I also work in a lab and we went with a low-set bezel solitaire ering with a bezel-set eternity wband. I definitely don’t think a high setting is practical with gloves and I wouldn’t even wear a prong setting with frequent glove changes because of the risk of snagging and tearing the glove. I have a higher prong-set amethyst ring that Darling Husband got me before we were engaged and I couldn’t wear it to work, nitrile gloves would push it into my finger so after a while it actually hurt to wear under gloves.

I have latex gloves on and off all day in my field and I needed to reset my blingy halo into something more work friendly. Here’s my new lower setting that is perfect for throwing gloves over. The tapered baguettes keep the stone from catching.

I’ve had the same concerns. I’m a nurse and I can’t count the times I wash my hands…how often I use hand sanitizer and honestly, with all that I touch (even with gloves on), I think I’m just going to leave my ring at home. The other option is to wear a simple band. I think I’m just going to go ringless.

I work in healthcare as well. I chose a partial bezel and I never rip my gloves,

Hi! In getting my e-ring changed… I have a 1.15ct round cut and the way it is set now, it snags on everything! I love your low profile bezel… What ct number is that? I’m trying to visualize my stone with this bezel set… Can’t decide if mine will look as good. Yours is really clean and sleek. Very nice.
