(Closed) Early Ceremony and Luncheon Reception

This really belongs in the “logistics” category. 

Cocktail hour typically happens before the reception, but since your reception will start around 11AM you can’t really serve cocktails. If you’re not serving cocktails, you can’t call it a cocktail hour. 11:45 lunch sounds fine. Dancing and cake afterwards leaves you ending around 3:30 like you said.

You don’t have to serve lunch right at noon. Lunch can technically be served until 3. A 10AM ceremony puts you getting up very early. Talk to your photographer and see what they think. They have been to many, many weddings and know what works and what doesn’t. Remember that you have to have time for photos!

@GingerSnap2013:  As someone who’s ceremony starts at 10:30 I do not think yours is too early. You may want to work with your photographer to figure out if this is enough time for him to work with though.
