I am due with my first on Tuesday, and I am pretty sure my body is preparing for showtime. I am just wondering other’s experiences with early labor. Yesterday I was having strong cramping that would wrap around to my back and they would come from anywhere between 7 – 15 minutes. Today they are a little more painful and pretty much every 5 minutes apart, but mainly painful in my lower back. I have also been losing my mucus plug for the past couple of days. I called the hospital and they said I am just experiencing everything that happens before labor…

My experience with early labor? I’m not really sure what early labor is like.
I lost my mucus plug around 38 weeks. I didn’t have any noticeable BH contractions or any other signs, then at 39 weeks my water broke and I delivered Dear Daughter 6 hours later.
Best of luck to you for the rest of your labor and delivery!

Contractions in your back sound like a good sign.
I am due on Saturday.
I have only had uncomfortable BH contractions – lost my MP on Friday and Saturday after having a sweep on Friday. Dilated to a 2, 75% effaced, -2 station.
I havent noticed anything else really. There are some girls in the July group who have lost their plug over the past couple weeks and not had any other signs of labor since! Some girls have had uncomfortable contractions for a long time too. I wish it were more straight forward!
Good luck and I hope you have a good birth experience!

With my first I was in early labor for 17 hours & then was augmented (I should’ve gone home & waited for real labor to start).
I was in early (prodromal) labor for a looooooong time with my second. 6 nights of “false” labor & then 37 hours of consitent contractions to get to 4 cm.
For the back pain you’re having I would highly suggest doing LOTS of hands & knees to help baby get into a good anterior position. (many times posterior positioning can be the cause of back labor). The use of a rebozo can also be beneficial for progressing labor & positioning baby.

Turns out I was in labor! Little love came at 3:13 AM Monday morning, after I posted this we went grocery shopping then about an hour later when I was laying down back at home my water broke. I wish the hospital would have told me to go in when I called though because little love had meconium in her lungs, not sure if going in early would have helped things… She is doing great now though! We just had to stay an extra day in the hospital and she was in the stage 2 nursery the whole time getting oxygen and antibiotics.
Livia was 7 lbs 14 oz and 20 in long! =)
