We have been doing T25 recently in the mornings. I find juice helps – my stomach isn’t ready for food that early.

Ew, I’m sorry but the thought of a hard boiled egg at 5am and then running makes me want to hurl! I don’t like to eat at all before I work out in the morning (unless I’m running over 12 miles), but if I had to I would eat a banana or half a Cliff bar. Juice is a good idea too.

I usually just have a quick Special K granola bar before working out in the morning. Make sure to drink plenty of water too!!

I can’t be bothered to work out in the mornings during the week, but for weekend morning runs I like to have a light english muffin with some no-sugar added raspberry jam.  I try to do carbs before and protein or protein/carbs after.  Also, you may be running low on electrolytes. I suggest nuun hydration tablets for your water to help combat that feeling (if I run more than 4 miles in the morning, I will be very shaky without nuun tabs).

I second the scoop of peanut butter! Full of protein! I can’t eat a lot before going out for a run, so I will normally do that. Otherwise, its an english muffin with peanut butter and a tiny bit of butter and then I’ll go running around an hour later. However, if its just weight training, then I can go right to it without having to digest.

I seriously want to start pushing myself to get up that early and start doing early morning workouts!!  I would feel so much better if I just got it done for the day!  Is there a thread for bees holding each other accountable for early morning workouts like that??

mk0589:  I would try either a banana with almond/peanut butter (the real stuff, not the Jiffy stuff with sugar added) or a Lara Bar. 

I think Lara bars are the most decent of the energy bar world since they are all real ingredients, no weird junk and no added sugar (dried fruit is sugary enough!).  My fav are the cashew ones.  The only ingredients are cashews and dates…So I geuss you could also just grab a handful of cashews and dates :D.
