I just started with some OPKs yesterday (day 6 of my cycle, day one being the first day of my period) and today (day 7) the test line was WAY darker than the reference line, indicating an LH surge. Is this normal? I didn’t think that I should be ovulating so early (I have a 26-30 day cycle). If you are using OPKs, when do you get your posivite test?

I used them and got a positive on Day 14, I usually have a 29-30 day cycle.

I know they are a little more expensive but I would try the Clear Blue Easy Digital OPK. It gives you a smiley face when you have an LH surge and a blank circle the rest of the time. It’s what I used this month and it was so easy, especially since we were on vacation and we were camping.

That does sound early, but I haven’t used those. I think baby was made on day 9 for us, though. I can’t be sure, since I wasn’t doing temperature charting, etc…but hubby got sick after that day, and by the next time we did it…well, our u/s dated us close to the day 9 we thought did the trick!
I had been off the pill 7 mos, and my cycles were 23-29 days.

Sounds early but that sounds like a positive – you might be ovulating early. Are you charing temperature? that can help show if you’ve actually ovulated.

I tried to do some temp charting, but my temps were all over the board, varying by more than a degree, both up and down. I was setting an alarm and taking it before I got out of bed and everything, so… I dunno. Well, I suppose we’ll see! Hopefully I’ll be posting some positive news in a few weeks. Think happy baby thought for me! :):):) Thank you ladies, I appreicate the help (as always).

I would certainly think it was possible, but I don’t know much about how the OPKs work.
If you do decide to go back to doing some temping, make sure you have a basal body thermometer. I also strongly recommend the reading the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It took me a month or two of temping before it became really consistent. I had to make sure it was ready to go so I didn’t move around too much as well as making sure I put it in the same place in my mouth. Good luck!
