I’m a brand new member of Wedding Bee! I’ve been perusing the blogs for almost a year now but I finally have an excuse to join now that I’m engaged 🙂
I’m hoping for some help from the infinite wisdom of the hive, I’m looking to start my wedding dress hunt but I have no idea where to look in the DC/NoVA area. I’m hoping to find some middle ground between the $5,000 dress store and the scary discount dress store. My ideal dress is under $1000 (I know, pipe dream) has anyone had good/great experiences? Any advice or ideas? Thanks!

My $670 dress is Alfred Angelo 2019. It glows… Gold beading on ivory organza. Flowers, drop waist, laced back, it makes me look like something other than a dwarf…
I’d say google wedding dress stores in the DC area. Look for ones conveniently located for you. Read the reviews. (I’m biting my nails at the moment because the place I bought from has some awful reviews… not as bad as some, though. Friends dragged me in there, and wouldn’t let me go back to the mediocre but acceptable dress at the first stop.) Visit the websites of the ones that aren’t scary. See which ones are in your price range. Choose three. Go. Have an idea of what you like, but stay flexible (I HATE satin and taffeta, sweetheart necks, and pick-ups. I didn’t want ivory or ruching, but those were both features of the dress I chose.)

@cyneswith: Thank you for your advice, upon looking around the site (ya, know doing research) I discovered that several bees have done this work for me. Thanks for your help & I’m so glad that you successfully found your dream dress for a reasonable price, it gives me hope for my own search.

I wish you could come shop in the Atlanta area, we have a huge selection around $1000. Look at Allure & Casablanca Bridal. Best of luck!
