- Wedding: June 2014
Fiance and I are having a destination wedding and gave our guests plenty of notice, about 15 months. On our STD/invitations we included stamps/stickers with “see you next year”. We just got a check, addressed to Mr. and Mrs. X, from his distant uncle and I’m not sure what to do since he says “we’re sorry we missed your wedding”.
We’ve received other gifts from guests saying sorry we can’t make it in 2014 and we’ve simply just opened, wrote the thank you note, and put the cash in our joint post wedding account.
But since his uncle thinks he missed the wedding, I’m not sure what to do here. I’ve thought about a few options but nothing seems to be the right decision based on etiquette.
Anyone else have this happen?
Fiance hasn’t seen this uncle since he was like 16 – when his grandparent’s passed, and I’ve never met the guy.
FI’s mom and uncle (her brother) have some family feud from the last time they saw each other. So she’s not being much help.
