She is a petite gal who likes to dress modestly, but also likes to dress pretty. She wears earrings all the time. I am looking at 5mm studs as a wedding day gift. I don’t know much about earrings, don’t have piercings. So ladies, what are your thoughts on this size?

It is personal preference, if you like it then go for it.

Again it’s personal preference, but I think that’s about right for daily wear. However, it is definitely the upper limit, particularly if she’s petite. I definitely wouldn’t go bigger if you’re thinking about daily wear.
It also kind of depends on the shape of her ear. I have very big earlobes and can pull off larger studs (and smaller studs look kind of dumb on me). I have a cousin who has attached lobes with very little real estate on the lobe and wouldn’t be able to pull off 5mm. So you may want to consider 4mm in that instance.
You can google image search and find lots of examples of how different size diamond studs look on real ears to give you some reference.

How sweet! I think studs are one of the most perfect wedding gifts. As for size, there are a lot of variables invovled…How large are her lobes (even petite ladies can have larger lobes)? Length of hair? Are the other earrings she usually wears larger or smaller? But overall I think 1ctw is a great size for most. My every day studs are 1.93 ctw (approx. 6.25mm each) and I can’t see myself going any larger, but my last pair were approx. .65 ctw (approx. 4.25 mm each) and they got lost under my long hair, so I much prefer the new ones. GL!

I am very petite (5’1″, 95 lbs) and I wear 1cttw studs (.5 carats per earring) as my everyday earrings. I think they’re the perfect size. I don’t wear a lot of jewelry but diamond studs are just the right amount of sparkle for me. They are classy and understated and add a little something to any outfit, no matter how casual.

I’m petite and my only daily jewelry is my wedding set and a pair of 1.25ctw studs (I don’t even wear a watch). They’re perfect for everyday wear. I would’ve gone for 1ctw but I have big earlobes 😂

What a wonderful wedding day gift! I’m sure she will be thrilled as diamond stud earrings are classic and timeless and perfect for everyday!
I agree with everyone else who spoke of personal preference, but in my opinion I think 4mm studs (.5 carat total weight) are the perfect amount of sparkle for everyday wear. However, I think 5mm (1 ctw) would be absolutely beautiful too, so truthfully you just can’t go wrong with either. Here’s a photo that might be helpful.

Oh no! I read too quickly and voted wrong. I somehow thought it said “not too small.” That’s what happens when you try to do too many things at once.
There is no one right or wrong size for daily wear. It’s a function of preference, taste, and budget.

I have 5mm that I wear everyday! I love them and they look so classy

I have 0.5ct diamond studs that I wear every day, and I LOVE them. I think 1ct would be perfect too! They’re subtle and classy, they go with everything, and they’re beautiful!

Thanks everyone! I am just worried that they may be too big? Her engagment ring is .55 carat solitaire. It’s hard to know what size to get because she is modest. But she always has earrings in too.
I ordered two 5mm August Vintage Moissionaite Heart and Arrows set in 3 prong YG martini.

If they are in your budget, half a carat each isn’t too big at all. Personally, I did not want my studs to exceed the size of my engagement ring, and you happen to be right on the mark there.

My diamond studs are just under 1 carat each and they’re perfect. Not too big at all. I never take them off and they look tasteful and elegant regardless of whether I’m wearing a dress or yoga pants.

Just wondering, does she commonly wear stud earrings? I always wear earrings, but almost never studs and it would be such a shame if she was given something so lovely but not actually what she would like.

I think that anything between 1.00 ctw and 2.00 ctw is perfect, depending on the person. I used to wear 1.00 ctw studs, but eventually bought jackets for them and then upgraded to 2.00 ctw. I would doubt that a half carat on each ear would be overdone for anyone.
