    Yes! Hawaii is amazing!

No. Go to the Caribbean instead

Maybe. Only if you stay for longer than 10 days

I personally prefer the Caribbean over Hawaii. The Caribbean is cheaper to travel around, the food is cheaper, and I love the different cultures on each island. But I tend to gravitate towards out-of-country trips, so take my advice with a grain of salt 🙂

I hate flying that far so I’d probably choose the carribean but if you’ve been to the carribean I think Hawaii has a different enough vibe to do it once from that distance! If the zika thing is going to really dampen on you wanting to have fun on your vacay then definitely hawaii!

We flew out of Boston thjs past January and stayed most of our 2 week vacation on Maui.  The flight was not fun, I will give you that.  Fiance and I don’t really care for flying, we flew American and the plane seemed ancient and all of our connecting flights were delayed.  That said if you told me it took 24 hours to get to Hawaii I’d still do it. To me, it was 10x better than Aruba, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic or Bahamas.  I haven’t been to St. John, and does look beautiful. I would not let the flight hold you back.  Maybe make an itinerary for both and see what really appeals to you and your budget.

We flew from JFK to Hawaii for our honeymoon and, as much as the long flights sucked, it was so worth it! I’ve never been to the Caribbean for comparison, but I would go to Hawaii again if I could.

I have nothing to add to the discussion except that fi and I are in the same boat (except getting married in October).  We’re on the East Coast (I’m from Boston originally!) and debating Carribean vs. Hawaii and worried about Zika.

We’re in the Toronto area and we did Hawaii as we felt we could do the Caribbean more frequently later in life with kids/cruises etc, but the honeymoon is special! So we went all out and did 2 weeks on Oahu, Maui, and the big island (those little hopper flights were awesome!).

Really recommend it – it’s totally different than the Caribbean!!

Most definitely!! I was there two months ago getting married😩… We’ve been several times and it’s a 10 hours flight from Atlanta. I’d do it everyday if I could!

Keep in mind that with Hawaii, flight is shorter on the way back;)

I personally did not like Kauai all that much, but you said that you loved nature! I think that it is worth a trip to Hawaii if money is not really much of a motivating factor! Also, maybe see if you could island hop! I think you would LOVE the Big Island of Hawaii. The climate is sooo varied on the island (sunny, dry Kona and lush, rainy Hilo) It is definitely my favorite island of the Hawaiian Islands!

Be careful! I loved my trip to Hawaii so much that I moved there!!!!!!!!!! 😉

Fellow Boston bride here!! We are flying to Hawaii (Maui) at the end of November. FYI, flight costs to Hawaii are a little high this week. We bought our tickets on 6/28 and each was $730 round trip, which was the lowest I had seen for our dates since I started tracking in April. The same flights are going for $900 now.

So don’t buy anything this week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be the days of the week where flight prices dip. Set up a Kayak price alert for flights and start watching for hotel deals too. We scored a 6th night free at our hotel thanks to a short lived promotion they had on their site for only 4 days! We are paying $522/night (not including our freebie night!) for a room that now costs $597/night for our dates.

Also!!! A fact that not everyone is aware of: if you book your flights and you find a cheaper/better option within 24 hours, you can cancel your flight at no charge and rebook.

Rental car car agencies in Hawaii also tend to have coupon books or special deals with local HI businesses. We can rent snorkeling gear and get a BOGO deal for the week if we show our rental keys and paperwork at a place down the road from our hotel 🙂
