- Wedding: June 2013
My family lives on the East coast, his family on the West. We are planning on having the wedding where his family is because there are more people on his side. There are only 8 on mine. But it will be a hardship for my family to travel. I’ll give them as much notice as possible, but I know they will still struggle to attend. I would love to pay for their tickets, but I can barely afford the wedding as it is.
I feel really bad and selfish, I don’t want anyone going out of their way for me. I thought maybe I can make a compromise and have them meet somewhere in the middle of the U.S., but then we will lose some of SO’s family. It will be a small wedding as it is, about 50 people.
Has anyone had this experience, families on opposite sides of the country. If so, where did you have your wedding? Did you pay for plane tickets or other accomodations? Were people upset you chose closer to one side of the family than the other?
