I’m finally trying to pick out some shoes to go with my dress (yay)!
But I can’t decide between style or comfort!
The FH and I have always been the ones to rip up a dance floor, which is why comfort is important to me. So… I’ve been looking at ballroom dancing shoes for our wedding… and, no offence intended, but the ones I’ve come across all look hideous! Maybe it’s because I’m a tiny person I might be thinking dancing shoes look a bit “chunky” on me, but I don’t know. None of them have caught my eye/look waaay too fancy to me. I could be looking in the wrong places as well..? *Vanity shame!*
And then there’s Nina – I so loooove the shoes on the website. But I’m not sure how comfy they’ll be and I really don’t want the hassle of changing into another pair of shoes (more money spent/dragging another pair around with me, etc) or suffering with a blister nightmare for the whole night… aaand I’m pretty short too so I’m trying to avoid wearing flats π (If there are any dancing Nina brides out there – how did you go?)
Just wondering what the concensus is on what other brides’ priorities are when it comes down to shoes – Style or Comfort?
Suggestions, ideas and links all welcome!

No way i can’t believe so far I’m the only “style” vote. I can’t imagine ever choosing shoes for comfort. Beauty is pain people! (ha though.. If they’re the devil to wear, they don’t get many repeats).

@Dancing-in-September: No worries & cheers for the vote π So, fellow Aussie bride to be, just curious as to where you will be getting hitched?

I voted for style.
However, my feet are use to it. I have high arches andpretty strong ankles. So, I’m normally not uncomfortable. I think the first time you were a pair of shoes (other than a sneaker), there wil be some rubbing somewhere that isn’t pleasent. So it is important to ‘break in’ your shoes before the wedding.*goes to put mine on*
Although, I do own some Nina shoes and they are quite comfortable. They both have a pointy toe and do pinch a bit- but I’m a teacher and am on my feet all day. But like I said, if you get your feet used to any shoe, it should be comfortable as long as it is relatively well-made.

@ksus07: I voted comfort. But, I have an infinity to face plant in stylish heels. I am still going back and forth on shoes. My dress will be here on Monday, so I need to hurry up and make a committment on the shoes. I did go and check out the Nina shoes, they have some really nice styles that don’t have huge heels……that don’t look grandma-ish!!
I have absolutely no suggestion for you on where to look. I am having the same dilemma!! If I find something I will come back and share it with you. Good luck!!

Beachside, in nsw. You? Sorry to be so vague but I do prefer to be anonymous on the interwebz.
My shoe dramas have been going on for ages. I just bought my third pair yesterday. Ack. My dress was no trouble but the shooooooo-za! (watch IT crowd?)

@Dancing-in-September: Ha, yeah I agree… Interwebz vagueness for the win!
I’m from NSW anyway so I think I have an idea of what it might look like and it sounds good, love the beaches there π We’re coming down to the Gold Coast from NT though… so I’m probably going to freeze my arse off – Since leaving NS I’ve become the biggest sook about cold weather π
Haven’t seen The IT Crowd for ages but I miss it!

I refuse to sacrifice either, but I have strong feet, so I can take a fair bit of foot abuse before I really notice the discomfort. Try to find some fancy-looking wedges, is my best advice. (I swear they do exist…)

I buy shoes for style, and then generally leave them in my closet for ages when they’re uncomfortable (which drives my husband crazy)

I wore gorgeous designer shoes (Badgley Michka), and my feet felt good for most of the night!
Then I lost feeling in three of my toes for almost a full week!

@BrandNewBride: Nice, that’s a shmexy looking shoe!! Haha I’m a ‘dance all night’ bride so might just be better off in Nike’s or something instead π

Ksus07 (can’t reply directly when on my iPhone) I grew up in a colder part of nsw and I’ll NEVER get used to the cold. NT sounds amazing, I need to go there. Hope you don’t freeze your arse off at your wedding! I hope that for myself too actually. Ah sweet IT Crowd. I hear there’s a new final episode being made, I hope it comes out soon!
