I’m trying to lose 5 lbs by Christmas. I don’t have a whole lot to lose (I’m 5’6″ and ~145). I use myfitnesspal app to track my food. That way I can have some cookies and fatty food so long as I exercise and stay under my callorie goals. It really makes dieting easier when you don’t try to cut out EVERYTHING you love. Just a tip. Good luck. The holidays are always hard when it comes to eatting right…

It’s the WORST!  I’m so glad someone else is saying this lol.  I mean did they have to do Thanksgiving and Christmas back to back like that?  It’s nothing but stretch pants for me from the end of Nov until New Years (I have no willpower).  I’m getting married in April 2013, so in order to keep myself in check this year, I scheduled a boudoir shoot for the middle of Dec.  Hopefully that does the trick.

My best advice is to not try to lose weight during the holidays but try to MAINTAIN what you have already lost 🙂 You’ll get through it!

@VMars:  uhm. It’s like mission impossible x2304820348. Every day I’m surrounded by pots of delicious hot chili, buttery mashed potatoes, steaks, gravies, candles that smell like goodies and not to mention the pies. Ah the pies. I had a slice for breakfast two days in a row. Yup. Diet=out the window.

For me eating healthy is hard all the freaking time. I work at my college and in the Student Life Center where we organize events. This means we always have cakes, cookies, cupcakes, etc. during our events. It is torture to always decline those treats. On top of that my Fiance and brother who stays with us do not care about eating healthy whatsoever. This means there are always bags of chips, cinnamon rolls, ice creams, etc. in the house and it is torture for me when looking for food. It takes so much strength to grab my cut up cucumber and sugar snap peas instead of the delicious sub sandwiches and chips they are eating. I admit I cheat sometimes because I feel so hungry all the time and envious of what they eat. What I really need are healthy options because I have, maybe 5 things, that I can eat that are healthy and it gets really old.

@VMars:  My plan is to rate all the food offerings on a scale of 1-10.

If it’s not at least a 9 or 10 on the fabulicious scale, it’s not worth sabotaging myself.

Yes it is!!

I have been doing great on weight watchers and loosing slowly, but over the past 2 weeks, I have stayed the same & I have a feeling that I will remain the same till after Christmas because while I am not overindulging, I am not in loosing either. 🙁

@housebee:  Thanks for that! I thought I was the only one 😛 mine was apple pie. Good thing we ran out, I’d eat the whole thing as soon as I got home today!!

@VMars:  I’m trying to eat what I call dr. oz foods but its so hard with my families cooking and eating habits. I’ve caught myself eating sweet potato pie and candy yams. I’m starting to think that thanksgiving should be like 6 months before christmas instead of the next month lol

Yes its hard in December but it depends on how bad you want it. Is it worth the weight gain you see on the scale? Not to me! Dont get me wrong, I will eat a cookie or two at my moms on Christmas but Ill also work extra hard at the gym afterwards.

I will be visiting Fiance in the Us in a couple of weeks. The last time I was in a Western Country was a year ago, and I will be struggling not to eat everything.
