I was wondering if anyone has any advice for Ebay problems with shipping.
I won an auction on the 16th, paid right away through paypal. Seller’s item description says he’ll ship within one day of receiving payment. Yesterday (the 18th), I asked him when he will ship, and he said that he would do it yesterday through USPS.
Today (the 19th), I followed up this morning and no reply.
I’m annoyed that he didn’t follow through with his promise to ship yesterday, nor did he provide any explanation+apology why he did not keep that promise. It doesn’t help that he hasn’t updated me at all as to what is happening.
Other than leaving bad feedback, what else can I do? Any advice to make the seller ship my item more quickly? Should I use the “resolve a problem” option?

It’s pretty early to use ‘resolve a problem’ or bad feedback. It’s really annoying that he’s not communicating as quickly as you’d like, but I’d wait before I started getting upset. Is it that he didn’t mark it as shipped/provide a tracking number yet through Ebay? He may have shipped it and not yet updated it – I bought something recently where they didn’t mark it as shipped or give my tracking number until the morning it was delivered (3 days after he’d actually shipped it).
I, personally, wouldn’t leave bad feedback for something like this – things happen. When you’re doing feedback, you have the option to also rate seller’s communication, shipping speed (I think?), shipping cost, etc, which you can rate poorly. You can also mention things like poor communication in your feedback, but I (and most Ebayers) reserve negative for substantial issues – item never sent, not as described, poor quality, etc. What is this person’s feedback score and comments now? If their feedback is really high, it’s probably a fluke, and while it’s annoying, I’m sure it’ll be sent out soon. If you won on the 16th, it’s a weekend, so the 1 day of payment likely means 1 business day, so that gives him until Monday/Tuesday depending on timing. I’d wait it out, personally.

@kittyface: Hi CassandraC, thanks for your advice.
I made it clear to him that I wanted him to let me know of the tracking number as soon as he sent it, and he promised to ship it + give me tracking number yesterday.
He had 700 ratings, 99% positive…so you are right, perhaps this is just a fluke.
Thank you for your tips, I will definitely rate appropriately in the communication/shipping speed categories. Thanks again! 🙂

Yeah, that’s really irritating – I definitely like to know when something’s coming so I can try and make sure I’m home in case the mailman doesn’t ring the bell. I’d just send an email asking for the tracking number as soon as it’s convenient for him to send it; until the item is out of his hands, might as well try and be nice to make sure he doesn’t delay any further. Hope it shows up soon 🙂

I’m a frequent ebay seller myself. Sometimes, if I have a lot to ship, I might miss a piece and ship it a day or two late or simply forget to mark it as shipped. For just 2-3 days, I wouldn’t stress too much. I know it’s frustrating, but just relax! Ebay sellers are people too 🙂

Thanks for your advice, everyone.
Update: seller refunded my paypal amount on Friday without any warning/explanation whatsoever. (so basically, there has been no email ever since the email on the 18th where she promised to ship on that day).
I am definitely rating this as a negative experience.
Thanks for your help!
