Yes, the reason is that they’re paid by all the bridal salons to sell their way overmarked dresses. Through PayPal, you are pretty much guaranteed to get what you read about in the eBay listing. If it isn’t as described, you get a refund if reported within 45 days. And even if you want to return it because you changed your mind, if the seller is reputable they’ll have a decent return policy in place for you where all you will likely lose out on is return shipping. I guess I’ve read one too many bridal salon horror stories here to think that by buying the dress on eBay somehow you’re playing Russian roulette with yourself. It really isn’t that bad. And lots of women have bought genuine, high quality, name brand dresses for dirt cheap, myself included. And I bought a lot of other wedding-related items there too, including our rings etc. You just have to know how to work the eBay system.

@pfinarffle:  I agree.  Not all of us can afford a “Platinum Wedding”.  I ordered a gorgeous dress from eBay last week.  I paid $125 total (with shipping) and it is a fairytale dress.  I can’t believe it was $99.  The only issue is that it is too small for my bust, so alterations are definitely necessary.

I purchased my dress on ebay. It hasnt came in yet but I have high hopes for it. I too didnt want to pay too much for a dress that I would only be in for 4 hrs. The dress to me looks beautiful online. I politely disagree what some people have to say about buying an expensive dress. Sure its your one day but you dont want to be paying for it the rest of your life. Of course David Tutera is going to say that HE IS A WEDDING PLANNER!!!!!! He gets paid based off the cost of your wedding. Any wedding planner that does that is going to urge you to buy the more expensive things so they can get paid more and THEIR portfolio looks good to other potential clients. It’s about your priorities and if your priority is to look good for less (like me!) then I would say go for it. By the way, my first dress was purchased in a shop for almost $500 and I was not at all satisfied after I bought it. I am more than estatic about my $160 dress than the first one.
