My wedding is on a serious budget, and I’ve considered renting or buying one from EBay ( the ones that ship from China). Has anyone done this? If so, post pics if you have any. I’m wondering if they look like te pics.

The ones from ebay almost never look like the pics.

@MayaBean: she is correct. The eBay dresses may have a close resemblance to the deSigners, but won’t have the same grade beading etc. if you have an idea of what you want, look for a designer gown on one of the pre owned sites or ebay. I bought a BNWT Maggie Sottero discontinued) on eBay for $130!

I know of one seller on Ebay that I would trust. That’s AprilBridal aka JeffLiu. Otherwise I would go with BabyOnline on DHGate (which is like a Chinese ebay). I was originally going to go the replica route, but wound up just getting a sample instead so if you have any questions I’d love to help!

If you want a chinese replica, I’d suggest looking into Jasmine’s or Dressilyme. Also search for a used original. I found my Maggie in a sample for $150 + free shipping here in the weddingbee classifieds.

Why not buy preowned from a fellow bee instead?

I’m not much of one for replicas, but try browsing for preowned and vintage wedding dresses on eBay. The vintage dresses tend to be cheapest (I recently won a high-end dress from the 1940s-1950s for $65 shipped), but judging by your interest in replicating a dress, I’d probably spend a tiny bit more on a modern preowned dress. There are so many listings, and they’ll likely be a fraction of its regular pricetag.
Why not look on Weddingbee’s classifieds, as well as similar sites while you’re at it? 🙂
