I heard that California can be a great place to honeymoon, maybe go visit wine country & the mountains.  I also heard the grand canyon is a great place to go.  Of course closer to the east coast in NY there are the finger lakes, Niagara Falls, and the Adirondacks.  The smoky mountains are supposed to be nice.  I haven’t really traveled much, that’s just advice I got while looking to plan mine.  We are going on road trip along the east coast to visit a bunch of different touristy areas we’ve never been to.  Best of luck figuring it out, honeymoon planning can be stressful I’ve found.

I went to a travel agent to see what we could afford. We’re also more mountain type people rather than beach, and she suggested going to Glacier National Park. That’s actually where we got engaged this past summer, so we won’t be going there for the honeymoon as well, but it’s breathtaking and you should look into it a bit. They say the glaciers will all be gone in 20 years, so you should see them before they melt!

It was one of the best vacations of my life (not just because he proposed!). If you have any questions about it I’d be more than happy to try and answer them.

Costa Rica!  I honeymooned in August and was also afraid of hurricane season.  It is the “green season” i.e. wet in Costa Rica and it rained most days, but only for a little while and didn’t really interfere in our plans.

The interior is full of volcanos, cloud forests, lakes, etc.  GORGEOUS!  We went zip-lining near the Arenal Volcano and then went to the hot springs fueled by the volcano.  There’s also a beautiful waterfall in Arenal with a short hike.  But this is just a small piece…there is tons to do in Costa Rica.

Begin with TripAdvisor.com.  I spent countless hours on that site.  It works for any destination. They even have message boards so you can ask questions to people that have been there or live there now.

My husband and I are still kicking around Honeymoon ideas. I’ve been drooling over St. Patrick’s Point in California since I was wee. I suggest checking it out!

I never really thought of the fact that August is Hurricane Season.  I did survive Hurricane Andrew in Miami in 1994, but that doesn’t mean i’m ready to experience another one, esp. on my honeymoon.

We are going to the Sandals Montego Bay Resort in Jamaica.  Should I reconsider our honeymoon destination?  Anyone else going to the bahamaian area in August?

I would definitely say check out Costa Rica… we’re thinking of going there too after our Sep 4th wedding… so if you take more than a week maybe we’ll run into you!
