I’m excited to be here, I’m finally engaged and half way to my wedding date. I’m writing because I am having an Art Deco themed wedding and wanted a vintage looking dress to fit the theme, church & reception hall (which were all built in the era). Problem is that I loved the Eden Bridal 2259 dress, but at the time I went to the dress shop, I couldn’t fit into the sample size so they just had to drape the dress over me. I fell in love with the dress. Fast forward 3 months, after some weight loss, I’m able to squeeze into the sample dress. I still like the look of the dress, put down a deposit, but once I see pics of myself actually in it, I’m not loving it as much. I’m not sure if its the best fit for my body type. Yes, I plan on losing a lot more weight, but not sure if its “the one”.
Help! Who out there has worn the dress? What size were you? (If I may ask). For my wedding, I anticipate being a size 10-12 (currently a 14). I’m having major dress regeret and feel so incredibly guilty over the possibility of paying extra for a different dress. I’ve seen another person on this site who graciously posted pics of her in the same dress, but her figure is already amazing. Does this dress flatter the curvier?

I do think it’s a beautiful gown. With the proper undergarments and in your size, I think it will be very gorgeous.
Going by pictures taken in unnatural lighting is never a good way to look back on the experience. First hand, when I look at pictures versus looking at myself in the dress during fittings, it is SUPER different.
Do you remember feeling like it was the one when you were in it? Or was it just something you had pictured in and commited because it was part of your vision?

@LuckyJuls: Thanks for the reply and letting me know your experience. The first time I saw the dress in person, I *loved* that it was a unique dress with a unique coloring (champagne colored lace). At that time, it was only draped over me while a different dress was on me but when the sales lady put the veil on, I starting crying. And after watching several seasons of Say Yes to the Dress, I figured that crying was the universal sign of yes. But since putting it on for reals and knowing I gain weight in my lower tummy, I’m concerned that the dropped waist lace may not be the best fit. Part of me feels that this should be extra motivation to stick with the dress and commit to a regular pilates/cardio barre classes for my core anyway. But I think the problem is that this sample is too small for me and stretches out my worst area.
I feel neurotic and I hate feeling this way…with all the other wedding stress of planning, I wish this would go away. But its much deeper…I rapidly gained 30 lbs from stress last year so I dont recognize my body as is. I’ve lost about 12 lbs so far still feel super self conscious. My fiance has been wonderful, assuring me at every step. But in the end, I still wanted a dress with the trumpet/fit n flare/mermaid (can’t tell the difference) look. Sorry for my neurosis, I guess I am just paranoid I’ll look awful in it! Somebody get me a drink! LOL

I honestly think it looks fabulous on you! Remember that you are your own worst critic.
On the other hand, you want to make sure you are completely satisfied with your wedding pictures after it’s all said and done, no matter what anyone else’s opinion is. So if you are feeling unhappy with the pictures in this one, it may be worth trying another one just to make you feel better. (Who knows, maybe you’ll end up liking this one even more again after you try others!)

Thanks so much for the affirmation! I actually went back to the store to try on the dress again, but with the petticoat and the sales girl wasn’t busy this time around, so she tied the inner corset which showed a better fit. Normally this dress has a zipper back but I am having it customized with the lace up back, so it will pull in better. Trying it again was really great because I could see it with a tighter, corset fit and to see more poof with the petticoat on. Now I know that this is the dress for me. Now just to get jewelry! Probably just going to get a bracelet and earrings, the dress is already very ornate. And no, this is not my veil, just wanted to see one with it. Thanks fellow bees!!
