We’re debating not doing favors at all, but if we do, we’re going edible.
We were at an open house and a chocolate place gave us this candy apple. Neither of us like apples, or much care for candy apples, but we tried it anyway, and it was freaking AMAZING. It was like an apple with caramel, and then covered with a really mild white chocolate or something like that, covered in cinnamon sugar. We both hate white chocolate AND apples and aren’t crazy about caramel, and it was still somehow amazing. We’re considering going with it. $3.50 a piece. Or if we make them ourselves, even less. haha.
So what do you think?
Any suggestions would also be super welcome ^_^

That sounds fricken delicious! Are you concerned with cost/DIY? I probably would be happy with anything chocolate 🙂 But I LOVE chocolate!

@ohulani Thanks! I love chocolate too! 😀 I think most people do, and if not they know someone who does, so it won’t get left behind.
We’re afraid with a lot of waste with a candy buffet, and people can go to the store and get some candy any time they want, and get exactly what they want, so we didn’t think it’d go over as well as we’d like it to unless it was really unique candy, which is very expensive and may be too out-of-the-ordinary for people to like or bother trying. We want to try and do something that you can’t just go get yourself any old day. Then there’s the renting/buying dishes cost, and the tons-of-leftover-candy problem.
The main concern is cost =( The apples would be about $280, which is a lot still. If we decide on it, we’d attempt to do it ourselves, but I’m not sure if we could manage, because it’d have to be pretty last minute o_O maybe an assembly line… haha. I think I like the candy apple idea though, because it’s basically the only thing you really can’t get any old time (except for maybe like cake pops or special cookies)

edible is the way to go but I would caution against te candy apples. They’re definitely cute for a fall wedding but I’ve been to a few weddings with them and nobody takes them or eats them!!! My wedding planner has said the same thing about the weddings she has done with them And doesn’t recommend them. If you love it go for it but just wanted to share those experiences with you.
my sister had a fall wedding and did the chocolate pretzels and they were a big hit!
i see you are in Bmore. How about Berger cookies or Old Bay for favors? Glaubers in the county sells cute chocolate crabs!
You could do mini apple pies or pumpkin whoopie pies to stick with a fall theme!

@MrsWBS: I really can’t think of anything that most everyone would probably like =/
I suck… fiance and I don’t like Old Bay or anything seafood related, and neither of us understand what’s so gret about Berger cookies. haha. We’re weird. But those were awesome suggestions! I never considered something regional.
I do love chocolate prezels though! 😀 maybe we will just do those.
Any suggestions for a more summery theme? We’re hanging on to the last couple days of summer. I know the candy apples are fall-y, but they were just so good. haha.
Your ideas are awesome! If you have any suggestions for something summery or semi-beach related I’d love to hear 😀 Thanks a bunch!

OOOMMMMGGGGG those apples sound DELICIOUS! I don’t even really like candied apples (the hard red ones always cut my mouth), but the soft caramel ones.. mm. I am craving one now!

I did s’mores on a stick, and they were a huge hit at my wedding!

I would vote against the candy apples for the sole reason that you and your Fiance don’t need any more last minute chores.
It always seems do-able ahead of time, but there are so many last minute details that I wouldn’t be making a conscious decision to add this big one.

@julies1949: That’s what I’m sayin…Keep it simple…no stress!
If favors are somewhat of an afterthought just do something simple that doesn’t take a TON of work. Any candy you give will be well recieved. You don’t even have to display them. People can grab a candy on their way out LOL.

I vote for either DIY s’mores bags or cookies. (Because Darling Husband and I love both.) We did a cookie bar (instead of a candy bar) at the wedding and had different cookies laid out on platters with cups of milk and strawberry and chocolate syrup to stir inGuerrero also had baggies for guest to take some home as their favor if they wanted to.
In an effort to make it even more simple, you can take 1 large cookie and place it in those paper cd sleeves and secure it with a nice sticker. Like this: http://www.marrythis.com/wp-content/uploads/cookie1.jpg

@yanamari: haha I hear you on the Berger cookies!! They really aren’t that great at all!
Chocolate pretzels will be awesome! My sister had ones with sprinkles on them in her wedding colors and others with different patterns on them in her colors. They were really cute!

i love the idea of the caramel apples with chocolate. the only downside to them is that they are a bit pricey and they don’t keep like other favours would.
my next choice would be the chocolate covered pretzels. great for diy.
