It will come up positive before you ovulate. I think you have a 24 hour window after the OPK is positive…

The OPK strips are slightly different for everyone. If you have an incredibly short LH surge (that comes just prior to ovulation) then the stick will only be positive for a very small window. Some people have a gradual fade in over the days before they get their positive. And some women have very little luck with them – or don’t see a positive because their cycle was anovulatory. 

It’s probably too late to use them accurately this time around. Try using them next cycle, from around a week prior to when you think you’ll be ovulating. They work best in mid-afternoon, but I’ve been known to check a few times a day. (I can sometimes have really short phases. )

By the way, the strip generally doesn’t show up positive after you have ovulated. It’s not like a pregnancy test that gets stronger after the fact. Think of it as more of a hint that things are getting ready to happen. 🙂 Charting is the best way to confirm if you definitely ovulated, as a temperature shift is needed.
